GED vs CHQ Dream11 MATCH PREVIEW:

Guangzhou Evergrande will be playing host to Chongqing Lifan in the midweek action in the Chinese Super League at Tianhe Stadium.

Billed as a game of the season, Guangzhou Evergrande came out winners in the clash between the top two teams in the Chinese Super League, winning 1-3 at the home of their closest rivals.

With just 8 games remaining in the season, the title looks to be heading to the familiar shores.

Meanwhile, Chongqing Lifan’s season may fall short of the expectations. It certainly looks like the case as they are a huge 22 points behind the AFC Champions League places.

Team News:

Guangzhou Evergrande:

  • Left-back Yu Hanchao, who can also play as a  left-winger, will miss the game through an injury.
  • Young centre-back Yan Dinghao has been ruled out as well due to a persisting knee injury.
  • We don’t expect Fabio Cannavaro to make changes to the playing 11 which started the last game against Beijing Guoan.
  • That said, Brazilian Anderson Talisca has been used sparsely since coming back from injury and will no doubt be looking for a berth in the starting 11.
  • Cannavaro is expected to name either Zheng Zhi or Xu Xin as a replacement for the injured Yan Dinghao.

Chongqing Lifan:

  • Lifan’s super striker Alan Kardec remains on the sidelines due to an injury.
  • Left-back Chen Lei picked up his fifth booking of the season and is set to serve a one-game suspension here.
  • Liu Le is likely to replace the suspended Chen Lei at the left-back.
  • Yin Congyao is set to lead the lines for the visitors in the absence of Alan Kardec.
  • While Marcinho and Adrian Mierzejewski will provide support in attack.

GED vs CHQ Dream11 Grand League Picks for Captains & Vice-Captains:

Elkeson: The 30-year-old has been a revelation of sorts in the Chinese Super League. He had even made the already strong Guangzhou Evergrande even more formidable. For the captain option in the Dream11 team, he looks a good fit.

  • Games: 06
  • Goals: 07
  • Assists: 03
  • Likely impact: positive
  • Odds to score a goal in this match: 4/5
  • Likely points (without scoring): +08

Wei Shihao: Considering six of the 9 goals he scored in the league this season came in the last nine matches, makes him a very potent player on current form. Unmissable.

  • Games: 18
  • Goals: 09
  • Assists: 06
  • Likely impact: positive
  • Odds to score a goal in this match: 3/5
  • Likely points (without scoring): +06

More options:

Yang Liyu: He may have gone four games without scoring a goal, but the 22-year-old is one of the first names on Cannavaro’s starting 11. His overall contribution speaks for the impact he has had this season.

  • Games: 20
  • Goals: 04
  • Assists: 12
  • Likely impact: positive
  • Odds to score a goal in this match: 2/5
  • Likely points (without scoring): +05

Paulinho: Even in the prime when he was playing at the top clubs in Europe, Paulinho has never been so effective in front of the goal. But the fact that the former Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona star has been the team’s highest scorer tells a great deal about his newly found goal scoring boots.

  • Games: 21
  • Goals: 21
  • Assists: 04
  • Likely Impact: Positive
  • Odds to score a goal(s): 3/5

Options worth considering from Lifan:

Adrian Mierzejewski: The experienced Polish is a very good player and can dominate the proceedings if given even a little space.

  • Games: 20
  • Goals: 04
  • Assists: 05

Fernandinho Silva: Two man-of-the-match performances in the last seven games shows he has been in good form. The 33-year-old will be a threat for the hosts all game long.

  • Games: 14
  • Goals: 05
  • Assists: 02

GED vs CHQ Dream11 Grand League Teams:

  • A 7-4 combination in favour of Guangzhou Evergrande, or 6-5 at max. The reason being: 1) Guangzhou are at home and are expected to win the match. 2). Not only they are winning matches, but are doing so by keeping clean sheets.
  • Paulinho looks a very good option – either as a team player or even as a scorer. The fact is he has been a phenomenon in the Chinese Super League this season.
  • Don’t go with a Lifan striker in your Grand League – Alan Kardec is out injured, while their best players are listed in the midfield category in the Dream11. The likes of Adrian Mierzejewski and Fernandinho Silva could fetch you good points.
