Table-topper Guangzhou Evergrande hit the road this weekend as they take on Shenzhen FC in the Chinese Super League at Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre.
Fabio Cannavaro is coming under huge pressure following Guangzhou’s two consecutive defeats and failing to win in the last three league games, while both Beijing Guoan and Shanghai East Asia registered two wins from the last three games.
As a result, Guangzhou’s once unbridgeable looking lead at the top has been trimmed down to just one point.
It’s a huge game, and perhaps the biggest match remaining for Cannavaro considering either Beijing Guoan or Shanghai East Asia will be dropping points this weekend as the two teams are set to play against each other this Sunday.
Shenzhen meanwhile are hard-pressed for a win as well as they aim to keep themselves away from the dreaded relegation zone.
The Chinese Super League match will be played between Shenzhen FC and Guangzhou Evergrande at Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre, in Shanghai, China. The ground has a capacity of 60,334.
The game will start at 05:05 PM (IST), on Friday, October 18.

Shenzhen FC Team News:
The hosts will have to prepare for this huge game without a host of superstars.
Ole Selanes is suspended following a straight red card in the 2-1 defeat against Shanghai Shenhua last weekend. Centre-back Liu Yiming will also be missing the game for the same reasons due to the accumulation of yellow cards.
In addition, two more players in the form of Zhang Yuan and Dyego Sousa remain on the sideline through injuries.
Wang Dalong should partner Qiao Wei at the back, replacing the suspended Liu Yiming in the playing 11.
While Zu Pengchao and Wang Peng both are in contention to replace Selnaes in the midfield. Though, the latter has more minutes under his belt and should get the nod here.
Shenzhen FC Probable XI:
Guo Wei (GK), Ge Zhen, Wang Dalong, Qiao Wei, Yeljan Shinar, Wang Peng, Jin Qiang, Gan Chao, Li Yuanyi, Harold Preciado, John Mary
Guangzhou Evergrande FC Team News:
Cannavaro will have to deal with three injured players in this match. Winger Yu Hanchao, midfielder Yan Dinghao and defender Li Xuepeng are sidelined through injuries.
Cannavaro to ring in changes!
We expect Guangzhou to make some changes to their playing 11 which lined up in the last game. The reason being a lot of first-team players were involved in the international break, and Cannavaro will be looking for some fresh legs here to end a three-game winless run in the league.
Feng Xiaoting and Mei Fang both battle for a place at the back. Yang Liyu and Wei Shihao should feature on either side of Zhang Xiuwei and Huang Bowen on the wings.
Guangzhou Evergrande Probable XI:
Liu Dianzuo (GK), Deng Hanwen, Park Ji-Soo, Feng Xiaoting, Gao Zhunyi, Zheng Zhi, Huang Bowen, Paulinho, Anderson Talisca, Yang Liyu, Gao Lin
Likely to score:
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Paulinho: The former Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur star has added goals to his game, and is the biggest threat from Guangzhou’s team.
Yang Liyu: He has emerged as one of the most consistent Chinese players this season. His passing and the skills on the ball are a joy to watch.
Harold Preciado: The 25-year-old Columbian will be the biggest threat for Fabio Cannavaro’s team in this game.
GED vs SHZ Dream11 potential winner:
Guangzhou Evergrande should at least get a draw here.
