Indian Super League: The much-awaited eighth season of the Indian Super League will get underway on Friday. The schedule for the first 55 matches of phase one has been released and the same eleven teams as last year are taking part. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, and Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco da Gama are earmarked to host the event. The two-month-long event will take place behind closed doors amid fears of a third wave of Covid 19 pandemic.
ATK Mohun Bagan FC will kickstart the campaign versus Kerala Blasters FC. Mohun Bagan fell short in the final hurdle last year versus Mumbai City FC. They would be looking to go the full distance this time and start on the front foot. Antonio Lopez Habas’ side are heading into this contest following a 6-0 hammering they received at the hands of Nasaf Qarshi in the AFC Cup. However, with some key signings this term, the Mariners look poised for another successful campaign.

The Kerala Blasters finished tenth last season with just three wins on the board. There is an air of anticipation around the club as they have named Ivan Vukomanovic as the new manager. He has made some key changes behind the scenes as well as in personnel. Vukomanovic has hailed attacking midfielder Sahal Abdul Samad and believes he can have a great season. The Yellow Army have just a solitary win in the previous ten fixtures. They would be desperate to start off the new season on a positive note.
