News From the Dugout
Antonio Conte’s recent appointment has massively impacted Inter Milan’s style of play and position in the league. Inter are currently first in the league with nine points on the table
Romelu Lukaku was subbed off against Udinese in a league game over the weekend but is expected to be back in contention for the Champions League.
Lukaku has also started off well for the Italian club ever since his transfer from Manchester United, as the Belgium international has scored two goals in his three starts so far.
Politano and Barella are expected to make way for Vecino and Martinez in the starting XI.
Jindrich Tripsovsky’s Slavia side is also carrying a winning momentum, as they sit on the top spot of the Czech First League with 23 points on board.
Slavia Prague doesn’t have any such injury concerns and will host Inter Milan with a fully fit squad.
This will be Slavia Prague’s second appearance in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League after a wait of twelve long years.
Having said that, Slavia did manage to make it into the quarterfinal round of the Europa League last season.
Starting Lineups (probables):
Inter Milan: Handanovic; Godin, De Vrij, Skriniar, Candreva, Veciono, Brozovic, Sensi, Asamoah, Lukaku, Martinez.
Slavia Prague: Kolar; Kudela, Hovorka, Zeleny, Husbauer, Trarore, Masopust, Stanciu, Olayinka, Skoda.
Inter Milan’s four wins in four league games see them on top of the points table.
Slaivia Prague, on the other hand, is undefeated too in their respective nine games (W:8, :2)
Talking in terms of previous meetings, the two clubs clashed in the 2016-17 edition of the Europa League, with Slavia winning the first game 3-1, followed by a 2-1 defeat away from home to Inter Milan.
For Inter Milan Stefano Seni in midfield with two goals in three appearances along with an 89% pass accuracy can prove to be the go-to-guy, alone with target man Romelu Lukaku upfront who’s registered two goals already.
While for Slavia, Josef Husbauer with four goals in nine games and Nicolae Stanciu with two goals in four appearances can prove to be threats in midfield.
Who will win: Inter Milan with a new manager, a new identity, and a fresher bunch of players will look to kick-off their Champions League manner in a and manner and would definitely look to go the distance this time around.
With that being said an Inter Milan win looks highly evident.
