MUN vs SOU Dream11 Match Preview, Team News, Lineups

After a draw and a defeat in the last two league games, Manchester United can’t afford any more slip-up if they are to remain within sight of their rivals on the table.

Southampton, meanwhile, may feel that the season started last week for them after opening their account for the season with a 0-2 win at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The visitors, though, are hard-pressed for a win, but Saints know that

Southampton Team News:

  • Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed that Nathan Redmond is out for two-to-three weeks at least. The 25-year-old suffered a muscle injury during the midweek clash against Fulham in the Carabao Cup.
  • Saints will also miss Moussa Djenepo and Michael Obafemi with injuries.
  • Michael suffered a cramp against Fulham and the manager confirmed that the next game has come too soon for him at this stage, while Moussa is a long-term injury absentee.
  • Ryan Bertrand will be assessed before the game. The former Chelsea left-back missed the last two games for the Saints due to an ankle injury.

Possible INs and OUTs of this game:

  • Kavin Danso arrived on a season-long loan from FC Augsburg and has already made his debut last week. The 20-year-old Austrian will once again start on the left side of the backline.
  • Either Stuart Armstrong or Sofiane Boufal will come into the playing 11 to replace Redmond.

Southampton Probable XI:

Gunn (GK), Valery, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Danso, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Hojberg, Sofiane Boufal / Stuart Armstrong, Che Adams, Danny Ings

Manchester United FC Team News:

  • Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw both will miss the Red Devils’ trip to the South Coast due to injuries. The duo picked up injuries during the 1-2 home defeat to Crystal Place last weekend.
  • While center-back Eric Bailly and wing-back Diogo Dalot remain long-term injury absentees.
  • Alexis Sanchez will be spending the season at Inter Milan after United accepted Serie A giants’ loan deal.

Possible ins or outs of this game:

  • Ashley Young is set to replace Luke Shaw at left-back, with the rest of the members of the backline remaining same from the last game.
  • With Martial out, Mason Greenwood may be given his first Manchester United start at Southampton. The 17-year-old has featured from the bench in the first three Premier League games.
  • Jesse Lingard’s uncanny start to the new season means the 27-year-old Englishman may lose his place to Juan Mata.

Manchester United Probable XI:

Gea (GK), Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Young, McTominay, Pogba, James, Mata, Rashford, Greenwood

Potential Game Changers:

  • Danny Ings
  • Pierre-Emile Hojberg
  • James Ward-Prowse
  • Marcus Rashford

  • Daniel James

Likely to score:

  • For Southampton: Che Adams, Danny Ings
  • For Manchester United: Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford

Captain and Vice-Captain options:

Paul Pogba: United’s most gifted player and their biggest crowd puller as well. The 26-year-old Frenchman is a tad too inconsistent for the talent he has. But under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the former Juventus star seems to be enjoying his football more. How United fares in this game will depend on how much Pogba affect the game.

Last season:

  • Games: 35
  • Goals: 13
  • Assists: 09

Marcus Rashford: The young Englishman is not only a star for the future but a vital cog already in Manchester United’s current wheel. With his pace and dribbling skills, the 21-year-old will be a threat all day long to Saints’ backline.

Last season:

  • Games: 48
  • Goals: 15
  • Assists: 07

Danny Ings: An old-school striker who loves to play on the shoulder of the last defense. Pretty consistent with his finishing as well, and has a decent record against Manchester United in the Premier League.

Last season:

  • Games: 35
  • Goals: 13
  • Assists: 09

Suggested combination:

GK: Gunn

DEF: Danso, Bednarek, Maguire, Lindelof

MID: Ward-Prowse, Hojberg, Pogba, Mata

Attackers: Ings, Rashford

Captain: Pogba
Vice-captain: Ward-Prowse
