Wolves are pretty much done for the season as far as Premier League is concerned. They have long met their first and the primary target of the season which was to avoid the drop and to successfully tackle the first season hurdle.

And they did just that. Long before they were expected to. In fact, not for a single week, there were any doubts about Wolves’ getting embroiled in the relegation battle. Almost from the start of the season, they have been flying above the dreaded bottom-three, and in the unchartered territories.

Not just that, for once they threatened to break into the top-six. But as the season stretched, the normality resumed and the top-six teams pulled away.

The credit certainly goes to manager Nuno Espírito Santo. What has been most impressive about Wolves this season is their approach in big games. Not the six-pointers against the relegation-threatened teams, but the matches against the so-called big six.

Nuno never shied away from going toe to toe in those matches, and the result is there to see. Wolves have achieved some remarkable results, some historical as well. Like a 2-1 home win over Chelsea and a magnificent 1-3 away win against Tottenham Hotspur.

So that’s come as a no surprise that Chelsea are being linked with Nuno Espírito Santo. But the former Porto goalkeeper was quick to shrug off any suggestion that he may be heading to the Stamford Bridge.

“I have a total dedication to what I must do and what we must do to keep on becoming better and growing. I’m focused,” he said before Wolves’ game against Burnley.

Wolves are still enjoying the view on the table despite hitting a purple patch of sorts in the recent games. They are still 7th with 44 points from 31 games.

However, wolves are still in danger of falling out of the top half of the table as 11th placed West Ham are just two points behind them.

Manchester United, meanwhile, have managed to save their season to some degrees. Not long ago, everything at Old Trafford was falling apart with players looking dejected and out of ideas in games.

That’s why Jose Mourinho’s sacking came as a no surprise. The self-proclaimed Special One was replaced by club hero Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and it’s been some turnaround.

However, the month of March had been difficult for Ole. He suffered three defeats in five games including a 2-1 loss in the FA Cup against Wolves.

But the fact remains that United have improved under Ole so much so that the Red Devils are in the top-4 in Premier League.
