Latest update on Sergi Roberto as Arthur Melo misses out against Valladolid

Ernesto Valverde has made a decision of keeping Arthur Melo out of the squad that hosts Real Valladolid in the coming hours. The Barcelona boss suggested that it is more of a tactical move rather than anything else.  This could end up with Ivan Rakitic accompanying the midfield alongside Busquets, and Frankie De Jong against Real Valladolid.

Keeping that aside, Sergi Roberto has also been included in the squad after being spotted in training recently. Roberto had sustained a knee injury and was away from the action for a couple of weeks.

Samuel Umtiti remains out of contention due to his knee as well, while Ousmane Dembele is undergoing suspension.

Junior Firpo and Moussa Wague are also ruled out due to tactical reasons.

Standings

Barcelona currently resides at the second spot in the league table with 19 points and are just a point below Granada who sit at first. Valverde’s men are on a run of five consecutive wins in the league and will be looking to bag their sixth in order to make a move to the top.
