Manchester United vs Sevilla

UEFA Champions League

SEV vs MUN MATCH PREVIEW:

Manchester United welcome Spanish club Sevilla to the Old Trafford for the 2nd leg Last-16 in the UEFA Champions League.

The first leg ended in a 0-0 stalemate at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, so the tie is open for both United and Sevilla. But the form of both the teams suggests that the visitors face an uphill task of reaching the quarterfinals.

Red Devils are on hot form after beating the likes of Chelsea and archrival Liverpool 2-1 in the span of two weeks with the come-from-behind win over Crystal Palace sandwiched between those two outstanding triumphs. That run of victories have sent United four points clear of 3rd placed Tottenham, and the favorites to clinch the 2nd spot in the Premier League this season.

Sevilla, on the other hand, saw their domestic campaign turned into a disaster after suffering a chastening 0-2 defeat to a direct top-4 rival Valencia at their own stadium. That defeat left them 11 points adrift of the last Champions League place, a lot of ground to make and Vincenzo Montella is running out of time as only 10 games are remaining in La Liga this season.

SEV vs MUN TEAM NEWS:

Manchester United:

Paul Pogba is still doubtful after picking up an injury before Liverpool’s game. Considering he didn’t train with his teammates on Monday ahead of Sevilla tie, he may be asked to pass a late fitness test. But still, we are backing him up only on the bench.

Ander Herrera and Marcos Rojo are doubts while Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Anthony Martial is fit to play. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also returned to training, but he will be only on the bench.

Jesse Lingard is just a booking away from getting a suspension for the next match.

PROBABLE XI

De Gea (GK); Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Young; Matic, McTominay; Mata, Lingard, Alexis; Lukaku.

Sevilla:

Former Manchester City winger Jesus Navas is set to sit out the match due to an injury. Sébastien Corchia is also unavailable, while Miguel Layún is ineligible for a trip to Old Trafford.

PROBABLE XI

Rico (GK); Mercado, Kjaer, Lenglet, Escudero; N’Zonzi, Banega; Sarabia, Vazquez, Correa; Luis Muriel

Competition History-

Manchester United-  3 times winners

Sevilla- No Champions League title. But this Andalusian club has won 5 Europa League medals.

Key Players:

Manchester United – Matic, Sanchez, Lukaku

Sevilla – Correa; Luis Muriel, Banega

INDIA FANTASY PREDICTION:

It will be a disaster for Manchester United if they fail to advance to the quarterfinals. The 0-0 draw is also a very tricky situation for the Red Devils as if Sevilla score the first goal, then United may have to score two goals to win the tie.

But it’s Old Trafford and we are backing the home team. A 2-1 win looks a good deal.
