A Milestone engraved in Pro Kabaddi League

The interzonal challenge continued with the second last day of Pune leg where two matches were played. The first fixture of the day featured UMumba and Telugu Titans, whereas, in the evening the home side Puneri Paltan were up against Tamil Thalaivas.

It was a day to remember for the two southern sides in Tamil Thalaivas and Telugu Titans raiders who got their names engraved into the elite list of top raiders. The two big guns Rahul Chaudhari and Ajay Thakur were on a verge to write history before the start of their respective matches and they did not disappoint the crowd as they reach the milestone they deserved.

700 for Rahul Chaudhari

The first match of the day saw UMumba going up against Telugu Titans a match which was pipped as a battle of the defenders. Unfortunately for the Titans their star defender Iranian Abozar Mighani was unavailable for the match after sustaining an injury in his wrist which mean the onus was on skipper Vishal Bhardwaj and Farhad Milaghardan to lead the defence.

Bu, history was in making as Rahul Chaudhari was just 7 short of 700 raid points and become the first ever to do so. Rahul raided successfully in his very first attempt of the night and then went on to claim 4 raid points in the first half. In the second half, he got his first point in the 25th minute of the match to open his account in the second half, but the historical moment came in the 26th minute of the match when he got the 18th point for his team and got to that prestigious 700 raid points mark.

History was made as he became the first ever raider to get 700 raid points, but it was a bad day in the office for his side as the Titans slumped to their second defeat of the season with a scoreline of 41-20.

The second fixture saw the home side Puneri Paltan taking on Tamil Thalaivas who were totally distressed after losing 5 games on the trot.  They needed a win badly to get some confidence for the upcoming games and for the rest of the tournament.

Their captain Ajay Thakur was just 2 raid points short of reaching 600 raid points and becoming the third to do so in the history of Pro Kabaddi League. It did not take long for him to reach the milestone as Thalaivas skipper got his second touch point in the 5th minute of the match. He then went on to get 12 raid points in the match which helped his team to upset the home favourites Puneri Paltan by 36-31 which also embarked their second win of the season.

Now with 609 raid points, he holds the third position in the all-time list with only Pardeep Narwal(671 points) and Rahul Chaudhari(700) above him.
