Brianna Turner ATL vs PHO Dream11

ATL vs PHO Dream11: WNBA has been at its best once again and even if the season is shorter compared to the NBA, it leaves a strong imprint. Here is a hope that the league will expand its reach, increase the number of teams, and also make sure that there is space for players who keep on proving their worth. The league is still entertaining despite its limited reach, and to add to the enjoyment, the Phoenix Mercury will host the Atlanta Dream.

The Dream has had their troubles on the offensive end but despite that, they have won seven out of 12 games, improving their play compared to last season. In the last game, they lost to the Storm 60:72 in another disappointing offensive outing. On the other hand, the Mercury looks lost without Britney Griner, and the last season’s finalists have lost eight of their 11 games. They defeated the Mercury 81:74 as Skylar Diggins-Smith got hold of 29 points in a sublime effort. Can the Dream get their offensive game going here?

Host: Phoenix Mercury
Visitors: Atlanta Dream
Match Timing: 11 June, @ 07:30 AM (+05:30 UTC)
Venue: Footprint Center

WNBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Dream’s defense is amazing, Mercury’s defensive woes

The Dream has been the most elite defensive team in the league, and their ability to contain a team below 80 has been indeed special. The young and athletic players alongside a strong defensive unit off the bench give the Dream workable combinations. However, offensively, they have not done well, the ball movement is iffy at times, and in half-court situations, the team looks clueless. Rookie Rhyne Howard has been on fire defensively but her offense is inconsistent. The team has seen a consistent performance from Cheyyene Parker but overall, a lot of work is pending to fix the offense that has a strong pace but not immaculate delivery.

Mercury’s defense is lost with Brittney Griner, whose length and athleticism enable them to be one of the elite defenses last season. Another area where they are hurt without her is the offensive rebounding and rebounding overall, where they are among the bottom-two squads. Tina Charles hasn’t shot well so far but yes, Diggins-Smith and Taurasi remain an elite backcourt scoring duo. It is not just inside defense that has been hurt without Griner, the Mercury has given up close to 39% from beyond the arc, which is worst in the league. The Mercury’s main issues are on the defensive end to be honest.

Performance Predictions

Highest scorer: Skylar Diggins-Smith: 26
Highest rebounder: Brianna Turner: 9
Top assists maker: Diana Taurasi: 8
