DET vs ORL Dream11: Match-ups, it is all about the match-ups. Even in the three-point-heavy era, we have seen that still basketball is all about the match-ups. Who guards whom, what plays a team run, and how they create mismatches, is an important component of the game. That is why it is more than about the boxscore. Anyway, in terms of match-ups, the game between Detroit Pistons and the Orlando Magic will be an intriguing one.
The Detroit Pistons are in rebuild mode. During the last Draft, they got Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren. They will utilize Cade Cunningham both as an off-guard and ball-handler and his ability to push the ball helps the matters. Can Saddiq Bey find more efficiency as a shooter?
The Magic is also a young and inexperienced team like the Detroit Pistons. However, they have managed to pull in Forwards with high potential and this can be a season of change. If things click, I see the Magic making up for wins in 30s. They can present a lot of size but the backcourt has to work well for them to have any big success.

Where will Pistons thrive?
The backcourt of Ivey and Cunningham holds a lot of promise but a lot will ride upon how they choose their shots. Cunningham can force the issue at times and because of that, the offense can fall apart. Ivey has the tendency to force things too so if two of your main guards are forcing the issue, the amount of open looks will either not be awarded or generated. This is why the Pistons struggled last season because they didn’t have a piercing backcourt.
Saddiq Bey can make the long ball but his efficiency will only be up if the backcourt is creating open spaces and helping to smoothen out the offense. On the defensive end, Ivey can help with his ability to be hard-nosed on that end. Cade will be up for a big defensive season while Bey will need to keep it up on the perimeter. Isaiah Stewart lacks help when defending inside and he can be a bit iffy from both ends at times. The real difference-maker can end up being Bojan Bogdanovic who can act as the stretch four. How will the Pistons find a more cohesive offense here? Will Bojan change the landscape as a threatening scorer? Will Killian Hayes develop further?
Magic really has an enticing Frontcourt
Amidst all the rebound, the Magic has found a strong player in the Forward position who can be up for a career year, and he is Wendell Carter Jr. His physical tools alongside his smooth footwork have allowed him to become a double-double threat. He can also play disciplined defense and can also guard the perimeter decently. Alongside him will be Franz Wagner, who has a lot of promise as a stretch-three/four. Paolo Banchero has turned heads with his amazing game but let us see how the rookie responds to the NBA defense.
In terms of backcourt, like the Pistons, the Magic also struggled to generate quality offense. For all his sharp vision and great techniques, Cole Anthony has had many tough shooting nights while Jalen Suggs still needs to hone some aspects to sustain a quality NBA offense. The backcourt should surely find more fluency if the Forward attack is to work. Overall, the Magic’s strength can lie in finishing inside and drawing fouls. Can Franz Wagner become more of a threat and will Wendell Carter break out?
