NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Pelicans can be a big threat

Although the Pelicans are lightyears away from being called an elite squad, their performances have been promising. They have a strong Forward duo Brandon Ingram and Zion Williams, the former an all-spots scorer, the other a terrific rim-driver, probably the second-most imposing dunker behind Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Guard scoring of CJ McCollum has been doing its bit but he can play at a higher level. Herbert Jones is a work-in-progress but gives solid defense. Jonas Valanciunas can seize the middle and also shoot from outside. Larry Nance, Jose Alvarado, Trey Murphy, and Naji Marshall make for one of the best benches in the league. The team needs to move it around more though.

Thunder are surely building well

The Thunder has been a strong squad this season and last season, they laid foundation for a strong two-way squad that can close to 40 wins. Yes, they still are far away from being a 50%+ win team but coach Deignault deserves more time to finish what he has started. He would have gotten nowhere without Thunder’s Point Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who has become one of the best scorers in the world. Josh Giddey brings all-around production whereas Luguentz Dort is effective despite struggles from three-point shooting range. But the trouble is that apart from these three, the team lacks sustainable offense. They wish they had number two pick Chet Holmgren who can help both ends.
