Mystics WAS vs ATL Dream11

WAS vs ATL Dream11: The WNBA has reached the midway point and this has been another riveting season at our hands. We get to watch the best women basketball players take on each other who have honed their skills under quality coaches and training in difficult environments. To add up the lore of the WNBA, the Washington Mystics will take on the Atlanta Dream as you will see these hard working women in full flow.

The Mystics are a much-improved team, winning 12 out of their 21 games and their defense has been incredible this season. They come into this game after beating the Aces 87:86 in an Overtime effort as Alysha Clark dropped 20 points. On the other hand, the Atlanta Dream has improved too but still looks like a work in progress. After seven wins and four losses start, the Dream has lost six out of their last seven games. In their last game, their offense kissed them goodbye again, as they lost 61:72 despite Aari McDonald’s 17 points performance. Who will prevail in this battle between two low-scoring teams?

WNBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Mystics has been elite on defense

While their offense has been questionable during many junctures, the Mystics’ defense has been highly impressive for most parts. If we factor in the presence of Elena Della-Donne, the team has won way more with her than without her. One of the main reasons for that is that the team’s offense look much better with her in the picture. While Cloud and Atkins have been inconsistent, Alysha Clark has been making some tough shots and getting the offense to flow. Shakira Austin needs to be more assertive and in control but the rookie has down well nonetheless. The Mystics right now may not look like a championship team but they can surprise in the Playoffs.

Dream has lost the plot

After a hot start, the Dream has lost its grip due to a large number of injuries. Seriously, their hands have been full with too many injuries and the absence of Kristy Wallace, Erica Wheeler, and Nia Coffey has broken the team on both ends. Rhyne Howard has done her bit on both ends but she can’t pull the team through. Aari McDonald has done well in the starting role whereas Ad Durr has been a big factor. But the Dream needs more on the offensive end at this point. Can they figure something out?
