BKN vs PHI Dream11: COVID-19 has played a spoilsport once again this season and after things were progressing rather smoothly, the mid-December window has seen a lot of players being placed in health & safety protocols. One such team whose key players have been placed in the protocols, the Brooklyn Nets takes on the Philadelphia 76ers in this game. Nets have the best record in the Eastern Conference with 20 wins and eight losses while the 76ers…

Brooklyn has been grappling with the absence of James Harden and it is clear that Kevin Durant will have to take it up a notch. It isn’t like Kevin already doesn’t have it up a notch than most players but his duties also increase as a playmaker with the passing of Harden missing from the fray. Durant is perhaps the most in-form offensive player this month and one thing is for sure, points will not be in short supply if he is there.

The 76ers have been brilliant in spurts. Actually, Joel Embiid’s three-week absence in November hindered their otherwise impressive start. Now, the team is also falling into a poor habit of going through extended dry spells on offense and that is an aspect that has been troublesome for the team.

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Nets: Short-handed but dangerous
Brooklyn is blessed with the talent of Durant and thanks to him, the campaign has been afloat for the most part. Kevin has been dealing countless offensive blows to opponents these days and he leads the league in points per game. Apart from Kevin, Patty Mills’ role will also increase while Blake Griffin will also see a ton of moments. This is a great opportunity for youngsters like Dayron Sharpe, Kirk Edwards, and David Duke Jr. to show the league why they were drafted. I believe if Durant plays consistently, the Nets can eke out more than 50% of wins even without Harden, Aldridge, Bembry, and Millsap. Nic Claxton has also played some brilliant basketball recently.

76ers: There are some issues

I think not having a regular playmaker might be finally hurting the Nets. Why do I say so? Because without a playmaking point guard, there are a lot of turnovers and the offense gets stagnant. Embiid is a superb offensive player but once again, he can’t run the point, he does a lot of other things anyway. When I look at the 76ers game, it bothers me how many empty possessions and turnovers the team commits which means the opposition always has a chance to be close. This is one area of improvement and yes, the team has beaten the Warriors but there are a lot of issues to be fixed.

NBA Scores, Fantasy Basketball Top Picks

Kevin Durant(BKN)
Points: 34
Rebounds: 13
Assists: 11
Durant will be playing without the support of Harden and Irving. However, the future Hall-of-Famer barely stops in his tracks, and in the last two games, he has scored 34 and 51 points. Let us just hope that he is not in the health & safety protocols too like others.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 40-50
Kevin Durant BKN vs PHI Dream11

Joel Embiid(PHI)
Points: 17
Rebounds: 14
Assists: 05
Steals: 01
Blocks: 01

Embiid’s health and availability will determine the 76ers campaign moving forward. The Center usually figures in the 19-24 points, 9-15 rebounds range but can have 28+ points nights on a regular basis too. He is an option for Star/Pro Player in the Dream11 NBA scenario.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 47-66

Patty Mills(BKN)
Points: 30
Rebounds: 04
Assists: 02
Steals: 01
Patty can get hot from the perimeter and aid the scoring for this team. Mills’ role expands in the wake of the long list of absentees. I expect him to lodge around 15-20 points despite his 30 points night in the win against the Raptors.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 26-41

Tyrese Maxey(PHI)
Points: 27
Rebounds: 03
Assists: 05
Blocks: 01

Maxey was scoring in the 20-26 points range earlier in the season but since late November, his production has been down. Still, things seem to be changing again and the guard has had two games with 23 points or more.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 30-42

Kirk Edwards(BKN)
Points: 17
Rebounds: 10
Assists: 02
Steals: 02
Rookie Kirk Edwards is getting some minutes recently due to a large number of absentees. The wing was impressive in his first 40+ minutes outing versus the Raptors.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 22-33

Tobias Harris(PHI )
Points: 24
Rebounds: 05
Assists: 04
Harris provides some semblance to the wing position and in a guard-heavy lineup, his length and size play a vital role. You can entrust the stabilizing presence to link up 16-18 points and 6-10 rebounds a game on a regular basis
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 27-36
