How both the teams fared at the 2019 FIBA World Cup?

Nick Fury headed to China with a roster almost without all of its NBA talent. To make matter worse, Canada were placed in perhaps the toughest group at the World Cup, along with the talented Lithuania and one of the pre-tournament favorites Australia.

So the writings were on the wall already for the North American side even before the team touched down in China for their World Cup campaign.

The 1936 Olympic Gold medalist lost 92-108 to the Aussies in the first game, following another defeat against Lithuania in game-2 as Nick Fury’s men fell flat in a campaign-ending 69-92 loss.

Senegal were the fourth-favorite to qualify from this group. The enormity of the task at hand was quite evident from Senegal’s 47-101 defeat to Lithuania in Game-1, with the 54-points gap a clear indicator of the huge gulf between them and the world’s top teams. Brushed aside. Never in the game.

Moustapha Gaye’s men showed much-improved performance in game-2 as they ran Australians close in the 81-68 defeat.

CAN vs SEN Dream11 team News:

    • Nick Fury’s 12-man roster has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the clash against Senegal.
    • Canada could have found themselves in a better situation had a host of NBA superstars not pulled out of the competition.
    • Players pulling out from the squad were Tristan Thompson, Jamal Murray, Andrew Wiggins, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, RJ Barrett, Nik Stauskas, Dwight Powell, Brandon Clarke, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Dillon Brooks, Trey Lyles, Mfiondu Kabengele
    • Hardly any head coach can do without so many talented players.
    • Expect the 2nd unit to get more minutes in this game.

    • Senegal are at full-strength as well for this game.

Squad for the FIBA World Cup 2019:

    Spanish squad:

Kevin Pangos, Melvin Ejim, Brady Heslip, Cory Joseph Point, Kaza Kajami-Keane, Andrew Nembhard, Conor Morgan, Owen Klassen, Thomas Scrubb, Phil Scrubb, Khem Birch, Kyle Wiltjer, Aaron Best, Chris Boucher, O’Shea Brissett, Duane Notice

Players to watch out for: (Captain options):

Youssou Ndoye: The 28-year-old Centre was awarded a place in the starting five, after impressing from the bench in Game-1. He will be looking for more impact here as well.

Cary Joseph: The Sacramento Kings guard has been decent in the first two games, but clearly, his performances could have been better. It’s all gone now as Canada are out of the World Cup, but the 28-year-old will be looking for one last hurrah in China.

    • Total Points: 31
    • Rebounds: 08

    • Rebounds: 09
    • Assists: 01

Bench players like Kyle Wiltjer, Owen Klassen and Brady Heslip. Still, a lot will depend on how many minutes the 2nd unit get in this game.

Like for example, Wiltjer clocked more than 30 minutes in the last game and ended up with a team-high 24 points.
