NBA Regular Season
Venue – Pepsi Center
Two franchises heading into different direction will be facing each other as Denver Nuggets welcome a struggling Dallas Mavericks in a regular season NBA match at Amway Center, in Denver, Colorado, USA, on Thursday morning (IST).
There is no such thing as perfect but Denver Nuggets’ display in the last game was close to being best. They beat Minnesota Timberwolves 133-107 and dished out a season-high 40 assists in the process.
Head coach Michael Malone questioned his players’ approach in Nuggets’ 122-105 loss against Golden State Warriors. His players responded by showing more intensity and difference was their as Nuggets won all the quarters except the 2nd which they lost 27-28.
Jamal Murray scored a team-high 30 points, while Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic had 23 and 18 points respectively. Mason Plumlee had the effective presence as he ramped up 8 assists in his 21 minutes stay on the court.
Dallas Mavericks suffered their sixth defeat on the bounce after going down 105-112 at home against San Antonio Spurs. With 27-40 in the season, they slipped down to 14th on the table.
Jalen Brunson scored a game-high 34 points, while Dwight Powell dropped 20 points. Luka Doncic, meanwhile, had a quiet outing, scoring just 12 points in the match. Dallas are out of the playoff contention.
Denver Nuggets: W-44, L-22
Dallas Mavericks: W-27, L-40
Nikola Jokic –His numbers may not be as high as what some of the other big name players are racking up, but Nikola Jokic is having an indispensable impact on Denver Nuggets’ charge this season. Talking about stats, he leads with a team-high 20.4 points per game, 10.7 rebounds per game and 7.6 assists per game. The 24-year-old is also making an incredible 1.4 steals per game.
Jamal Murray – Was at his best in the last game as he scored 30 points against Minnesota Timberwolves. He is Nuggets’ 2nd best player and can do almost everything on the court, whether it’s the shooting from beyond the arc or creating spaces for his teammates.
Luka Doncic –He has immense talent and that’s the reason why Dallas Mavericks pursued him so intensely. But few predicted him to have a kind of season which has made him a favorite for the rookie of the year. Luka Doncic is racking up 19.28 points per game this season and also leads with 5.6 assists per game.
Tim Hardaway Jr. – Dallas may be enduring a bad season but the same can’t be said about Tim Haraway Jr. The 26-year-old is racking up career-best numbers this season, 18.0 points per game.
Injured – No fresh injury concerns. All the big guns are available for selection. However, Trey Lyles is still on the sidelines and will be missing the match. He could return from the injury on Saturday.
Questionable – None at the moment.
Suspended – None.
Injured – Kostas Antetokounmpo is the only player out injured for this match.
Questionable – Luka Doncic was listed as questionable before the match against San Antonio Spurs but he played. The 20-year-old should be fine for this match.
Suspended – None.
Based on the form, this is David vs Goliath matchup. But here we may not see the iteration of the Biblical event as Denver Nuggets are a huge favorite for this match.
And we are backing the hosts to win this match.
