Phoenix Suns will be aiming to put an end to one of the longest losing streaks in NBA in the last few seasons when they host Dallas Mavericks at Talking Stick Resort Arena, in Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday morning.

Phoenix Suns are having another nightmarish season in NBA. They were the worst performing team last year after winning just 21 games and losing a staggering 61 times during 2017-18 regular season. They were expected to better that result, at least after successfully tying Devin Booker to a new five-year contract in the off-season.

But Suns are not winning enough matches this season to convince the unique talent like Booker to see his future at Talking Stick Resort Arena. Just four wins from the first 28 games and 24 losses, no wonder Phoenix are rock bottom in the Western Conference and are the only team to have winning percentage less than .200.

At the moment, Suns are on a 10 game losing streak. They have also failed to touch the 100-point mark in six of the last 8 games. Davin Booker’s untimely injury could be the reason as the 22-year-old is the only Suns’ player to average in the 20s this season.

Dallas Mavericks:

Dallas Mavericks can teach Phoenix Suns a lesson or two in how to improve a team’s fortunes. The 2011 NBA Champions won the 3rd fewest matches during the whole 2017-18 regular season. They finished 13th in the Western Conference, a huge 23 wins away from 8th placed Minnesota Timberwolves, and only 3 wins better than the Suns.

With Dirk Nowitzki almost reaching the dusk of his glittering career, and not enough talent in the roster to take the team forward, Mavericks’ only chance to become a challenger was to dig deep into the market for the right talent. And that’s what they managed to achieve.

Luka Doncic was snapped up from Real Madrid in the off-season, Deandre Jordan ended his more than 10-year association with Los Angeles Clippers to join Mavericks, while Nowitzki himself extended his stay in his beloved city by one more year, and Dallas have improved at least in terms of winning percentage.

At the moment, the 2011 Champions are 7th in the western Conference and are on a three-game winning streak heading into this match.

Deandre Ayton – He is one of the only three Phoenix Suns players to average in the 20s this season. He is only 20 years of age, and is leading rebounds per game for his team this season.

Dallas Mavericks:

Luka Doncic – The numbers may not be impressive but Luka Doncic is one of the six players in Mavericks’ roster to average in the double digits this season. The 19-year-old is scoring 17.8 points per game this season.

Harrison Barnes – More of a senior pro. The 26-year-old has raised his game in the last 10 games or so, averaging almost in the 20s.
