Draymond Green screaming in celebration GSW vs SAS Dream11

GSW vs SAS Dream11: NBA is heading towards the postseason and I can’t believe how quickly another long season of the NBA has ticked on. And now, as we reach the Playoffs, the best of the best action is still in store for us. But don’t ever underestimate the importance of the Regular Season, no matter how much fans and even players at times downplay its importance, it is what determines where you’d be in the Playoffs or if you will be there at all. It is what builds a lengthy momentum and there is a reason why most top seeds end up winning the championship. And as the Golden State Warriors take on the San Antonio Spurs, there is a lot at stake.

The Warriors have had a weird seven-day period, first, they went on a four-game winning streak, winning one of those games with Draymond Green returning to the fray. However, a cruel loss to the Celtics and more than that, an injury to Stephen Curry has made this week from a joyous one to a painful one.

On the other hand, the Spurs have been losing their ground in terms of the Play-in tournament and with the way they are playing, it doesn’t seem like they will make it. The injury to Doug McDermott and a poor defense has derailed the Spurs campaign big time. The overdependence on DeJounte Murray has also hurt their chances.

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Warriors were flat against the Celtics in the last game, losing 88:110 in the worst night of their season as they also lost Stephen Curry to an injury

Green returns and Curry goes. What a nightmare the last few days have been. After waiting for the return of Draymond, the team has now got to wait for their leading scorer and league’s leading three-point maker in Curry. Apart from that, the team also learned that James Wiseman has suffered setbacks in his return from injury as his foot has been swelling. The Warriors fans were preparing to see their offensive dynamo in Curry and brilliant defender and playmaker Green play together but surely, the injury gods always have their own plans.

However, there is a strong guard tandem in Poole and Thompson, both of who can score in bunches, while Wiggins and Green as the two Forwards will form a strong two-way tandem with Green as the defensive anchor, premier rebounder, and smart playmaker. Kevon Looney has done well in the middle. Porter Jr. and Kuminga provide great depth to the Forward position. And overall, the Warriors’ depth can turn on the heat even with Curry ruled out indefinitely. So, how will Steve Kerr mix his rotations?

The Spurs suffered their worst loss of the season as they conceded 91:124 to the Pelicans and as they are their Play-in contender rivals, this loss has to be the worst so far:

The Spurs’ season has had no rhythm. They keep on losing games and despite a highly promising roster, the results have been rather unkind to Greg Popovich’s coached team. They have lost four of their last seven games and if we look at the larger picture, they have lost a whopping eight of their last eleven games. However, nothing is worse than the last loss against a team that is a rank above them and against a squad that the Spurs are vying for the Play-in race. Surely, things are not looking promising for Popovich’s team.

One area where the Spurs keep on falling behind is the defensive end and the team gives up just too many points in multiple quarters, as indicated by four quarters by Pelicans where they scored in the 29-35 range. DeJounte Murray has been scintillating as a playmaker, scorer, rebounder, and defender but since Derrick White has gone, the defense has been worse and the scoring balance plus the depth, all are hurt. Jakob Poeltl has been huge in the middle with his inside scoring and rebounding, meanwhile, Keldon Johnson has done well as a scorer and rebounder. Lonnie Walker IV(Out in this game) has been the “X-Factor” but Devin Vassell will have to also step up his game as the starter.

NBA Scores, Fantasy Basketball Top Picks

DeJounte Murray(SAS)
Points: 17
Rebounds: 09
Assists: 05
Steals: 01

Blocks: 01
Point Guard DeJounte is one of the best all-around guards in the league and he has been the major purveyor of the Spurs’ effort. He has mostly been in 25-30 points, 8+ rebounds, and 5+ assists range. The SF can be selected as a Star/Pro Player in the Dream 11 NBA Fantasy scenario.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 36-55
DeJounte Murray celebrating with Keldon Johnson GSW vs SAS Dream11

Jordan Poole(GSW)
Points: 29
Rebounds: 02
Assists: 03
Steals: 02
Blocks: 01

Guard Poole will have his workload increased and will play a decisive role with Curry being ruled out, it may even help him explode for big nights. I expect a 21-27 points and 3-6 assists range.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 26-36

Keldon Johnson(SAS)
Points: 11
Rebounds: 05
Assists: 04
Steals: 01
If Keldon, a reliable wing was more consistent and assertive offensively, the Spurs could have benefited more. His rebounding and playmaking are impressive and so is his 40% shooting from beyond the arc. I expect a 17-22 points and 6-9 rebounds range here.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 22-34

Klay Thompson(GSW)
Points: 18
Rebounds: 03
Assists: 01
Off-guard sharpshooter Klay will also have to elevate his game to cover up the loss of Curry and he can surely heat up. He has mostly been in 17-24 points and 3-6 rebounds range.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 22-34
Klay Thompson guarded by Payton Pritchard

Jakob Poeltl(SAS)
Points: 07
Rebounds: 08
Assists: 03
Center Poeltl has been doing a great job as the screen-setter, paint scorer, rebounder, and help defender. Jakob has mostly been in 11-15 points, 8-12 rebounds, and 1-3 blocks range.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 20-34

Andrew Wiggins(GSW)
Points: 21
Rebounds: 07
Assists: 04
Blocks: 02
Andrew has missed the last two games due to injury but he is highly likely to return during this game. The wing will also have to step it up and I believe he can figure in 20-25 points and 4-7 rebounds range.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 19-32
