Russell Westbrook LAL vs POR Dream11

LAL vs POR Dream11: NBA takes twists and turns as the long season unfolds. But there are some habits and precedents that teams built which carry on deep into the season. And there are times when it is difficult to shake them off because it is difficult to do away with building precedents that elevate your game or the ones that hold you back. A team is built before the season, expectations are set, and while some teams will meet them, others will defy them, and yet some others will remain an enigma.

The two teams who meet here in Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers, have certainly let their fans down. The Lakers pieced together a lineup of Westbrook, LeBron, and Davis, which hasn’t certainly worked out so far. The Lakers are three games below the 50% win mark, in the Play-in contention but are looking miles away from elite teams like Grizzlies, Warriors, Suns, Mavericks, and even Nuggets at this point.

On the other hand, the Trail Blazers have struggled all season long, and have 21 wins and 30 losses but a decent mid-January window places them in top ten in the Conference, meaning they are still in contention. The team has played without Damian Lillard for most parts recently but yes, with the trade deadline nearby, surely, they will be thinking of some moves?

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Lakers: Can they get at least 42 wins?
With LeBron out, the Lakers have lost three games in a row, and in a league where you see a lot of injuries, such kind of precedents means your team isn’t deep. The Lakers have lost 80%+ games without LeBron so you can imagine his impact even at his age. The trouble with the Lakers has been the defensive end and the lack of hustle which is one of the bad precedents and this is what I meant when I talked about precedents.

The duo of Westbrook and Davis hasn’t fetched many wins which is a surprise for me. Offensively, the team has Monk and Anthony too, and Monk has especially been impressive with big-time production while Anthony gives decent shooting as a stretch-four. Talen Horton-Tucker has been struggling a bit and yes the team depth can be in question now too. However, the biggest issue for the Lakers has been their lack of hustle. If the Lakers are to get at least 42 wins, they will need to win 18 out of the next 31 games, and if they do so, they can carry some confidence during the Play-in tournament.

Trail Blazers: Will they be active in the trade market?
Hasn’t the duo of McCollum and Lillard been given enough of a run to see what they are about? Or will the management look to surround them with better fits in the upcoming window? The one major issue for the team has been the lack of defense and they have been one of the worst defensive teams for a considerable amount of seasons now. Perhaps a two-way wing or a two-way Center can help the team in the coming seasons? The Trail Blazers keep on falling each season rather than improving.

Anfernee Simons has been playing well since late December. McCollum has been scoring in his usual rhythm. Norman Powell is a stable wing scorer. Nurkic is a big-time rebounder and scorer too. Nasir Little, Robert Covington, and Larry Nance Jr. look like a solid Forward lineup too. While Ben Mclemore has been decent too off the bench. However, the Trail Blazers need different combinations it seems and things haven’t just worked out recently. Will the team build around Lillard? Will they trade McCollum or even Lillard to fetch some high draft picks and go in rebuild mode? Let us see some of the answers can be found around the trade deadline.
