Malik Monk dunk LAL vs UTA Dream11

LAL vs UTA Dream11: The NBA All-Star Break is knocking on our door, and well, I am not a big fan of the festivities themselves but it is a welcoming window for many athletes who are in need of a rest. And it is also a great chance for different coaching staff to figure out strategies and combinations as the push for the postseason will only get more intense. Well, the Play-in tournament spots are at stake and the Los Angeles Lakers here are barely hanging on by a thread and they face a soaring Utah Jazz here.

Lakers keep falling off and their record, instead of improving, only slides further. They have been one of the most frustrating teams to watch this season considering the talent level they have. The Lakers have lost three in a row and they have lodged five more losses than wins. Can Russell Westbrook figure out his way here and make sure that the Lakers make a late push as the postseason comes near? Also, will LeBron play here?

The Jazz has been playing some amazing basketball recently. The team won six in a row, five without the team’s leading defensive player in Rudy Gobert. Donovan Mitchell has done a great job on the offensive end while also elevating his game in terms of rebounding and playmaking. The Jazz has done  a great job on the defense recently and this current window has been vital for the team in the long-term?

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Lakers: Defense continues to let fans down
Lakers have been not hustling hard throughout the season. They are getting beat on the offensive boards and multiple Centers and big Forwards have taken advantage of this deficiency. Apart from the bigs, the guards and wings have also enjoyed hot shooting spells versus the Lakers. The team was a high-quality defensive squad last season but this is clearly not the cast this season as the team’s defense continues to let fans down. This is a clear-cut case of getting outhustled.

Russell Westbrook has been struggling to adjust to the Lakers system and well, time is running out for him. The rumors around him getting traded could have also impacted his play but yes, he may turn it around. Not having Carmelo has hurt the bench balance too but Austin Reaves and Talen Horton-Tucker have shown some strong offense recently. Malik Monk has done his job for most parts but he may need to dip in 20+ more often now.  The Lakers need a huge winning streak, something they have not been able to do so far. Those streaks are vital to mount a substantial resistance after all.

Jazz: The team can be a threat down the line
Utah has won six games in a row and has a huge chance of nabbing the seventh straight win against a highly vulnerable Lakers squad. When Gobert was out, the team struggled initially but made terrific adjustments on the defensive end. Hassan Whiteside has played some brilliant basketball, clasping rebounds and also playing more than handy defense while nabbing inside points. And with Gobert back, the team defense will only improve. The Jazz has had some issues on defense and if the team fixes it further, they will be  a force during the postseason.

The offense is strong with Donovan Mitchell, Mike Conley, and Jordan Clarkson as the major guards. Bojan Bogdanovic can hit his shots. The Center position looks deep with Gobert, Whiteside, and an emerging Azubuike. The Jazz got ousted in the West Semis last season and if they are to make some noise this time around, the upcoming window can be crucial in solidifying their record and moving in with more confidence. The time is ticking for the Mitchell-Gobert duo and this can be the defining season for these two as a part of the same team.
