MIN vs SAS Dream11: Just a few more days and the long NBA Regular Season will pack the bags and leave the rest of the action to the Playoffs. And what a fun season this has been, unlike any other! Within a few days, we will only see the number of teams subtracted from the equation and it is sad that we will see some of these teams after a long period. But, before that, we will have the highly promising Postseason action and the two teams that meet here in the Minnesota Timberwolves and the San Antonio Spurs will both be featuring in the Play-in tournament.
The Timberwolves are an elite team offensively and their wealth of three-point shooters and finishers has made them a tough one to deal with, thus, they will be one of the favorites to make it to the First Round of the Playoffs.
On the other hand, the San Antonio Spurs have finally learned how to close out games and take care of leads. This means that they will enter the Play-in tournament with a ton of confidence. Their match-up versus the Pelicans is going to be an exciting one
Host: Minnesota Timberwolves
Visitors: San Antonio Spurs
Match Timing: 8 April, @ 05:30 AM
Venue: Target Center
The Timberwolves suffered a shock 112:134 defeat to the Wizards in a rare home-court loss versus a below 50% team
The Timberwolves did suffer a defeat against the Wizards but they have mostly been in dominating their home floor. When you pair three high-quality scorers who bring different skill sets, it will of course work. They are one of the best three-point shooting teams in the league and they have a bench that features multiple players that can knock down long-range bombs. This offensive prowess will be helpful against the Clippers who are looking much stronger with the return of Paul George.
The driving game of Anthony Edwards adds a great dimension whereas Karl Anthony-Towns is one of the most versatile scoring bigs who can both connect on jumpers and also take it to the rack. D’Angelo Russell has been the leading assists maker but his shooting can be erratic at times, despite that he will attract the perimeter defense. Malik Beasley is among the top three-point shooters while Jaylen Nowell, Patrick Beverley, Jarred Vanderbilt, Taurean Prince, Jordan McLaughlin, Jaden McDaniels, and Naz Reid round off a deep roster. However, the team’s defense has been exposed time and time again.
The Spurs had one of their best wins of the season as they beat the Nuggets 116:97 behind a balanced scoring night.
The best part about the last win against a sturdy Nuggets team was that the Spurs did so without their leading scorer and playmaker DeJounte Murray. This is a promising sign ahead of the Play-in tournament and there is no doubt that the Spurs are playing their best basketball this season since mid-March. One of the major reasons for the transformations has been the improvement on the defensive end and the team’s ability to finish games, something they were not doing earlier.
The consistency of Keldon Johnson has been a prime reason while the Center depth looks promising with Jakob Poellt and Zach Collins sharing minutes as the bigs. Devin Vassell’s expanded offensive game has also improved the state while Josh Richardson has carved out some efficient nights. Lonnie Walker IV’s injury has thinned the bench a bit but the Spurs have now learned win with less. DeJounte Murray’s return will still determine how far they go in the short Play-in tournament.
