NYK vs NOP Dream11: With the NBA midseason in the full flow, you can see major changes soon. Why? Well, the trade market will soon pick up heat and as I write, I am sure many teams are preparing the blueprint, taking into account various metrics before engaging in transactions. For me, this is a challenging period, keeping a tab on the lineup shuffles which changes the complexion of how we analyze, predict, or look at the overall picture. And well, the two teams who will clash here can engage in the trades.

In this game, the New York Knicks will clash against the New Orleans Pelicans in an East-West Conference clash. Knicks have 22 wins and 23 losses, losing the last two after a rather welcoming stretch but yes, the last two losses at home must hurt. On the other hand, the Pelicans have 16 wins and 28 losses, also having lost two of their last games, which has been the theme of the season.

The Knicks have struggled many times on the offensive end, with multiple players hitting cold streaks at the same time. The team has a solid core but keeps coming on short because of the shooting woes. This is why it will not be surprising if the Knicks make some trades. Will we see some players getting moved?

Pelicans have been playing some below-par basketball all season long but that is understandable. With Williamson out, the team balance is disturbed and a lack of bench hurts the team many times during the course of a game. The Pelicans may not get even in the Play-in tournament unless they spark some magical run.

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Knicks: They keep on slumping
New York Knicks offense has had no rhythm to their offense since the early parts of the season. Perhaps, it is because there are more isolation players and fewer off-the-ball players, which means that most of their players need the ball in their hands quite a bit and play one-on-one basketball. Julius Randle pushes the pace well but this is a two-way sword because he also commits a bunch of turnovers and forces the issue on the offensive side and his shot selection can be iffy. RJ Barrett has had some 25+ points outings, but even he has had turnover issues and shot-selection issues in the last two issues. Evan Fournier has been highly inconsistent on the scoring end but I think it is a matter of fit and Fournier has been used to being a primary scorer during the last few seasons before he was in Boston last season. Burks has been doing a decent job as the playmaker but with Walker back, his minutes can be reduced. On the other hand, Quickley and Toppin have not gotten consistent minutes, especially Toppin, who receive usually less than 10 minutes early. Overall, the Knicks have issues with passing the ball, play too much one-on-one basketball. Defensively, the Knicks have been playing at a high clip but it is the offensive end that needs to be addressed.

Pelicans: What has the season meant?
With the Pelicans playing without Zion Williamson since the beginning of the season, they have seen less physicality on defense, a lack of scoring at times and the overall presence of Zion could have made a difference. The duo of Ingram and Jonas has done well, with Ingram being the major iso threat and Jonas as the primary rebounder and also a big-time scorer. Josh Hart has displayed some brilliant all-around play while Devonte Graham has been the knockdown shooter who I feel could have done more (Not many 15+ points nights while shooting below 38% from the field). On the other hand, Herbert Jones, the rookie has shown that he can form a formidable trio with Ingram, Williamson, and Valanciunas, acting potentially as a sixth-man. I think the Pelicans have little to no support from the bench. There are not enough scorers in the reserve scheme and even Nickeil Alexander-Walker hasn’t been scoring at the earlier clip. The New Orleans outfit needs a rejuvenated form of the bench because the current reserve lineup has not been able to pull through.

NBA Scores, Fantasy Basketball Top Picks

Brandon Ingram(NOP)
Points: 15
Rebounds: 10
Assists: 06
Steals: 01
The wing has been in superb rhythm all season long and plays an integral role as an all-around player for the Pelicans. Ingram is a reliable scorer for the team who has usually figured in the 22-24 points range while grabbing 4-8 rebounds and dish 5-9 assists a game regularly. Ingram can be selected as a Star/Pro Player in the Dream 11 NBA Fantasy scenario.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 37-49

Julius Randle(NYK)
Points: 21
Rebounds: 09
Assists: 09
Blocks: 04
Steals: 02

Randle has been one of the best all-around players in the league and also one of the most physical players in the Association too. Julius has been figuring in the 17-24 points, 9-12 rebounds, and 6-9 assists per game regularly this season.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 38-51

Jonas Valanciunas(NOP)
Points: 22
Rebounds: 14
Assists: 04
Jonas has been a wonderful player in the middle for the Pelicans who has kept the rebounding column stuffed and can also score in multiple ways. Valanciunas has usually grabbed 10-16 rebounds a game while scoring 18-22 points a game with some 25 or more nights every now and then.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 37-45

Josh Hart(NOP)
Points: 13
Rebounds: 09
Assists: 04
Steals: 01
Hart has been an all-around presence for the Pelicans and he has kept the hustle on for the Pels. The Shooting Guard has been scoring in the 13-14 points range while grabbing 5-9 rebounds and dishing 3+ assists regularly.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 27-39

RJ Barrett(NYK)
Points: 17
Rebounds: 06
Assists: 02
Barrett is a high-quality off-guard who has been struggling to play in control for the last two games, turning it over seven and six times respectively. The Guard was scoring in the 26-32 points range before these games. Can RJ rediscover the mojo?
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 25-35

Evan Fournier(NYK)
Points: 27
Rebounds: 04
Assists: 04
Steals: 01
Evan is a two-guard who can score in a myriad of ways but yes, he has been on and off throughout the season. Fournier had been the primary scorer and saw the ball lot in his hands during his time with Magic but that has changed he has had to adjust. Fournier has scored 18 or more in three of the last five games, but yes, he can even go under 10 points during many games.
Expected Fantasy Points Range: 17-41

NYK vs NOP DREAM11 LINEUP BALANCERS

  • Mitchell Robinson(NYK) had 8 points, 6 rebounds in the last game. Mitchell has been a constant presence in the middle for the Knicks and he has improved his play a bit compared to earlier. Robinson can be expected to score 8-16 points and 6-10 rebounds a game these days.
  • Devonte Graham(NOP) had 11 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block in the last game. Graham has been usually scoring in the 10-13 points range and 4-7 assists range but he is QUESTIONABLE for this game.
  • Herbert Jones(NOP) had 16 points, 1 steal, 1 block in the last game. Herbert has been scoring in the 13-16 points range, remember, Jones is a rookie and he has raised his range from 6-9 so he is progressing well.
  • Kemba Walker(NYK) had 19 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 steal in the last game. Walker has been in and out of the lineup and then injuries have also hampered him. The guard can be expected to score 13-19 points per game.
  • Nickeil Alexander-Walker(NOP) had 9 points, 2 assists, 1 rebound in the last game. Alexander-Walker’s minutes have reduced and so has his scoring. He is now in the 9-11 range usually while earlier he was in the 12-16 range.
  • Alec Burks(NYK) had 4 rebounds in the last contest. Alec’s minutes are dependent upon whether Walker plays or not. I believe he can get 6-8 points and 3-4 assists per game.
  • Quinten Grimes(NYK) had 3 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals in the last contest. Grimes doesn’t play 20+ minutes consistently, this kind of production is pretty much expected.
  • Taj Gibson(NYK) had 5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block in the last contest. Gibson can scrap out 4-7 points and grab 4-8 rebounds a game consistently.
  • Jose Alvarado(NOP) had 4 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 2 steals in the last game. Alvarado has been usually playing for 12-16 minutes these days and the above production is what to be expected.
  • Jaxson Hayes(NOP) had 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal in the last game. Pretty much the maximum output he has given all season long.
  • Garrett Temple(NOP) had 1 steal in the last game. The veteran wing usually scores in the 3-5 points range.
  • Obi Toppin(NYK) had 4 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist in the last game. Obi’s minutes have taken a hit and the young Forward has even lodged less than 10 minutes a game these days.
