TOR vs ATL Dream11: The trade deadline is nearing and after that the All-Star festivities. The NBA has moved past the midseason window and the postseason window doesn’t look far away at this point so this is a crucial phase for a multitude of squads. Who will adjust to the whims of the league before the time runs out? Both teams here in Toronto Raptors and Atlanta Hawks are on that agenda certainly.
Raptors have won four in a row and since early January, they have figured out their team chemistry and have played some inspirational basketball. Despite a so-so bench, Toronto keeps on scrapping wins and keeps themselves in the running for the Playoffs. Can the Raptors make a 60% win push to end the regular season?
The Hawks have won eight out of the last nine games and the win against the Suns must be special as the Trae Young-led team broke their winning streak. Unlike Raptors who are dependent upon multiple cast of characters, the Hawks’ wins are largely influenced by the presence of Point Guard Trae Young. Host: Toronto Raptors Visitors: Atlanta Hawks Match Timing: 5 February, @ 06:00 AM Venue: Scotia Bank Arena
Raptors: What does this trade deadline mean for them? The Raptors have won more than 60% of their games since January. Most of their contests in the latest period have been within a seven points differential, indicating that the Toronto squad has engaged in a ton of close games. And if you keep it close till the end, eventually, you are going to figure out the winning combination, however, you can also become a team like Pacers, that lost their confidence losing close games or like the Mavericks, that did lose a lot of close games, but discovered their confidence.
Anyway, the Raptors are blessed with a multitude of two-way players. OG Anunoby, Fred Van Vleet, Scottie Barnes, and Pascal Siakam are all-around two-way players while Gary Trent has taken the ball-handling load off Fred and has turned out to be a terrific player for the Raptors. Chris Boucher and Precious Achiuwa despite their up-and-down offense bring rugged performances off the bench. However, as the trade deadline nears, the Raptors must explore the market for some strong bench players because the guard and wing positions are without a cover for injury as minutes stack up for the starters.
Hawks: The confidence must be high Beating a team that has an 80%+ win record is surely going to raise the confidence level of the Hawks but one thing is concerning. The team has been struggling without Trae and is rather too dependent upon him. If you look at teams like Heat, Raptors, Hornets, etc, they have found spark even if their main players go missing but Hawks tend to be too reliant upon Trae. It isn’t like that is a big weakness as the 76ers are also dependent upon Joel Embiid rather way too much, and this dependency on one player has been the theme for many championship teams in the past too.
The Hawks have also seen improved performances from Bogdanovic, Gallinari, and Huerter, the three major perimeter shooters. While DeAndre Hunter and Collins are two strong Forwards. Capela has been decent despite his falling numbers but that is surely becoming a concern in long run. Okongwu and Wright have been doing a decent job off the bench. However, the team is largely dependent upon Trae Young. Can Young propel the young Hawks to another Conference Finals appearance?
