Hassan Whiteside dunks UTA vs HOU Dream11

UTA vs HOU Dream11: NBA All-Star break has been nearing and well, the burnout bodies of the athletes can always use some rest. This is a welcoming period of rest but there are some events too like the much-heralded Slam Dunk Contest, Three-Point Contest, and the traditional All-Star Game along with Rising Stars, etc. But I don’t have much interest in all of these contests and I rather invest my time in how the teams will fare post the All-Star Break period. So, as the break nears, let us jump into the game between Utah Jazz and the Houston Rockets.

Jazz has been doing a great job recently, winning five games in a row. They had a little wobbly window but have recovered recently after especially picking up their defense. The Jazz has 14 more wins than losses and they have the fourth-best record in the Western Conference. As the All-Star Break nears, the Jazz can resume things with a more confident tone.

On the other hand, the Rockets have been unable to build up any momentum throughout the season and they keep on hoarding losing streaks. The Rockets are going through a tough period ever since James Harden has left the squad. There is some promising young talent but the Rockets can be in for a lengthy period.

NBA Projections, Stats & Analysis

Jazz: The team can be formidable during Playoffs
While I know the Utah Jazz hasn’t been counted among the contending teams, the squad has been feeling it these days on both ends of the floor. The current core has accumulated a ton of experience playing together and that can play a huge role down the line. If the Jazz can somehow secure the top-four spot, the team will secure a home-court advantage at least for the first round. If the major roster remains healthy in the Playoffs, the Jazz can pose challenges to even teams like the Grizzlies, Warriors, or Suns. The Jazz fell short last season and lost badly in the Western Semis and if that happens again, it can severely hurt the current core.

Donovan Mitchell has picked up his game in various spheres and he has looked motivated to build a distance with the squads ranked below the team. Bojan Bogdanovic has been a dependable knockdown shooter and I do believe he will hit a hot streak sooner than later. Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson have built a strong Point Guard depth while Hassan Whiteside has elevated his game. Once Rudy Gobert returns, the team will be deep in multiple areas. Royce O’Neale’s hustle will be huge as the Playoffs window closes in.

Rockets: Long way to go
Christian Wood has done a great job in the middle for the Rockets and if anything, he has helped the team not fall below 10 wins this season. Are the Rockets keeping him long-term? Because I believe he even has a further peak in him. He has been improving his defense each season and his multiple skillset keeps expanding further and further. The team however lacks a big-time big Forward and has been fielding three guards in the lineup and even with Gordon out, with Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr., and Garrison Mathews. That is why the team can be outmatched as the youngsters are still learning how to play defense.

Jae’Sean Tate has been a terrific two-way and he has been doing well in the starting five. Jalen Green can be a great three-point knockdown shooter but still has a long way to go. On other hand, Kevin Porter Jr. has been the most promising player these days, taking up his scoring while being the primary ball-handler for the team. Bench players Kenyon Martin Jr., Alperen Sengun, and Josh Christopher have also done a great job and I believe Alperen has the potential to become an all-around Center. How will new entrant Dennis Schroeder will fit in this team? However, a lot of work is to be done by the coaching staff and the management.
