3 Big questions before Team India ahead of England tour

MS Dhoni, Manish Pandey, Yuzvendra Chahal and uncapped Siddarth Kaul are prepping for England’s tour at the NCA in Chinnaswamy, whereas the Indian captain is seen breaking a sweat in his latest social media post.

India’s England tour presents the biggest challenge for Virat Kohli-led Team India. The ODI side looks more or less settled, but there are a few burning questions that the Indian team must answer to find success in Tests.

Can Indian batsmen counter English conditions?

India had a terrible time on the last tour of England and would be hoping for better fortunes on English soil this time. None of the batsmen could cope with the moving Duke ball against the masters of swing bowling – James Anderson and Stuart Broad. Going by Indian batsmen’s performances on South Africa tour, there is a big question mark on whether they can be at their best.

Can Kohli carry the enormous weight of expectations?

There is far too much weight of expectation on the Indian skipper’s shoulders. Virat Kohli failed to register a half-century or a ton and scored at a paltry 13.40 in the test series, but it is Kohli who holds the key. For India to succeed, Kohli must get plenty of support from the others.

Can the bowlers deliver?

The pace-attack – Mohd. Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Yadav, Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah – looks promising on paper. But, can they make the most of the conducive conditions to run through the English batting?

“I’m very hopeful that India will win in England. The way they have played the ODI series in South Africa, if they are able to hold back the momentum, they will absolutely win.”
