Date: 20th March 2018

When: 9:30 PM IST

Venue: Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore

So, here we are then folks! After three weeks of pulsating cricket, the PSL moves to Lahore for the business end of the tournament. On 20th March, defending champions Peshawar Zalmi will take on the Quetta Gladiators in Eliminator-1, the winner of which will take on Karachi Kings in the second Eliminator.

Here’s a complete analysis of Quetta Gladiators vs Peshawar Zalmi

Quetta Gladiators

Captain: Sarfaraz Ahmed

In the Spotlight:

The two-time finalists Quetta Gladiators will be looking forward to booking their place for the third time. After putting up three consecutive wins at one point in the league stage, the Gladiators had a minor blip in their last two matches and as a result, finished fourth in the points table.

With likes of Kevin Pieterson, Shane Watson, Jason Roy and Ben Laughlin refusing to travel to Pakistan, the Gladiators have made a wholesale of changes to their squad. While Rillie Rossouw has accepted to turn up in Pakistan, Thisara Perera, and Mahmudullah have been signed as overseas replacements, and they along with Chris Green will be expected to make up for the quota of four overseas players. Both Perera and Mahmudullah have been in imperious form for their respective sides and could have a huge bearing o the game.

On the bowling front, the duo of Anwar Ali and Rahat Ali have worked well in the season and they’d be hoping for an encore on Tuesday. While off-spin of Chris Green, who had a good BBL07, might come in handy, the duo of Nawaz and Hasan Khan will be expected to play a key role with the variations at their disposal.

India Fantasy top-picks for the match

  • Thisara Perera
  • Rahat Ali

Probable X1: Umar Amin, Asad Shafiq/Rameez Raza Jr, Rilee Rossouw, Mahmudullah, Sarfaraz Ahmed (C/WK), Thisara Perera, Chris Green/ Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Mohammad Nawaz, Hasan Khan, Anwar Ali, Rahat Ali

Peshawar Zalmi

The defending champions just like their opponents have had an up and down tournament and have somehow managed to qualify for the playoffs. That they’ve qualified is primarily due to the heroics of Kamran Akmal who has scored 75 and 107 respectively in the last two matches. While Hafeez started the PSL on a bright note in the first half of the league has hit a rough path of which he’d be looking to make amends in front of the Lahore crowd.

On the question of availability of overseas players, the likes of my Andre Fletcher, skipper Darren Sammy and Liam Dawson have all confirmed they’d be traveling to Pakistan for the playoffs. While Zalmi would want Smith to rediscover his form for the all-important eliminator, Liam Dawson who has bowled superbly in the league will hold key yet again. Saad Nasim made use of the opportunities bestowed on him with cameos like 35 off 18 balls and 17* (8) and is expected to retain his place in the side, while the duo of Hasan Ali and Wahab Riyaz will be their prime fast bowlers.

India Fantasy top-picks for the match

  • Kamran Akmal
  • Liam Dawson
