Twitter fume over Pujara’s exclusion from the playing XI against England

The first Test match between England and India has started as the hosts have decided to bat first after winning the toss.

After winning the T20I series against England, India will be eager to better their Test record in England.  India are currently the top-ranked Test team, whereas England are seated on the fifth spot.

While England’s choice to recall Adil Rashid in their Test squad has already ruffled some feathers, people are now questioning Kohli’s choice of excluding Pujara from the playing 11 against England in the first Test.

India have roped in KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay as team’s top order batsmen.

Pujara failed to impress during his county stint and could only amass 172 runs in 12 innings, thus he failed to cement a place in the playing 11.

India played a warm-up match against Essex at County Ground in Chelmsford. Pujara failed to fire with his bat there as well.

But as he is an important part of the Indian Test squad, people were expecting him to feature in the playing 11, but he was rested.

Kuldeep Yadav, who has had a great England tour so far also couldn’t find a place in the playing 11.

The visitors roped in Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma to spearhead India’s pace attack and picked R Ashwin as the lone spinner in the team.
