Things were looking pretty glum for John Cena fans when the sixteen time World Champion cut an emotional promo on Raw this past Monday night stating that he potentially had no opponent for Wrestlemania 34.

The rumor mills have been abuzz with ‘The Dead Man’ coming out of retirement for one final showdown against the 16-time World Champion at the grandest stage of them all. However, all those aspirations were squashed when John Cena affirmed that the aforementioned clash seemed improbable. Cena, who beat former champion AJ Styles this past week got himself into the main-event at Fastlane for a chance to go into the marquee event as the defending World Champion.

If the aforementioned scenario fails, the 16-time World Champion has a plethora of offers at his disposal with three former WWE Superstars throwing their name into the ring to face the Mr. Hustle Loyalty Respect at Wrestlemania.

The Contenders:

The past week has been abuzz with rumors with several superstars vying to face John Cena at Wrestlemania 34. Here’s a quick look at them:

  • Hurricane: One of the most entertaining superstars with a gimmick of a SUPERHERO, the Hurricane shocked the WWE Universe when he made a comeback at the Royal Rumble and tried to chokeslam John Cena. The Hurricane ever since have been targetting the 16-time champion and he recently put out a tweet challenging John Cena for a showdown at New Orleans.

  • Chavo Gurrero: The most recent challenger came in the form of former champion Chavo Guerrero. With a lot of history between Cena and the Guerrero family, the showdown between Chavo and Cena will add another memoir to the rivalry. Chavo took to social media to challenge Cena for the Mania match.

  • Rey Mysterio: Rey Mysterio shocked the WWE universe when he made a comeback after a long hiatus at the Royal Rumble. So much so that Mr 619 is now being rumored as a potential opponent for John Cena if the deal is materialized.
  • Lance Storm: The bolt from the blue came when a certain former Intercontinental champion, Lance Storm joined the party and added his name to the list of aspiring opponents against the great one.

Our Take:

While a lot of superstars have thrown their hat into the ring for Wrestlemania, John Cena’s prime focus as of now would solely be on Fastlane, which gives him an opportunity to march into Wrestlemania as seventeen times World Champion, failing which the road to the mega event will get intriguing as to whom Cena chooses as his worthy opponent.
