Fielding is Jadeja’s biggest strength. He fields at the point region. Over the years, he has grabbed some of the finest catches ever. He is very athletic and covers the ground exceptionally well. Combine that with his fine throwing arm and direct hits, he easily ranks among the topmost fielders in the world.
Jadeja’s exploits in the U-19 World Cup earned him an international debut in 2009 against Sri Lanka. He impressed with a half-century on debut though India lost the game. But it was with the ball that Jadeja kept on improving. His wicket-to-wicket bowling proved difficult to hit and soon Jadeja became Dhoni’s main weapon in the middle overs. He was excellent in the inaugural season of IPL and played a crucial role Rajasthan Royals’ winning campaign. Jadeja was given the title ‘Rockstar’ by Shane Warne.
There was always doubt about Ravindra Jadeja’s ability in the longer version of the game. But he proved them all wrong when he made his Test debut in 2012 against England. Jadeja’s quick speed and flat darts proved extremely efficient and he became a regular in Test cricket.
Jadeja was the highest wicket-taker in 2013 Champions Trophy and played a vital role in India’s victorious campaign. He is also the only player in the history of Ranji Trophy to score three triple centuries. His sword celebration has been very popular in the cricketing world.
