Amiya Dev was born and brought up in New Delhi, where she lived with her parents, Kapil Dev and Romi Bhatia. She attended her schooling at Shri Ram School in Mursari, Gurgaon. Amiya wanted to pursue something of her interest and found her preferred education abroad. 

After finishing her schooling in India, she went to St Andrews University in Scotland, UK, and received her bachelor’s degree there in 2014. Although it is not known what her major is. But it is assumed that she has a curiosity about filming and directing.

Initially, there was an assumption that the only child of Kapil Dev is adopted; there’s no truth in the buzz. She was born healthy and normal to Kapil Dev and Romi Bhatia. Amiya’s mother is an entrepreneur who runs multiple businesses. 

In 2019, Amiya Dev joined Kabir Khan’s crew as an assistant director, helping him produce ’83’, a biopic about the life of her father Kapil Dev, starring Ranveer Singh.
