The fact that his father now 65, is a fitness freak and plays badminton also helps in Sandeep’s training. Apart from his father, former director of St John’s Sports Coaching Foundation, John Manoj Sir also helped him a lot and never charged a single rupee from him.

And when finally it was time for Sandeep to debut at the senior level, he paid it off by smashing a century on his Ranji Trophy debut against Jharkhand in 2010. And there has been no looking back since.
