C Jordan Career
Christopher James Jordan, born on October 4th, 1988, is a talented English cricketer known for his skills as a right-arm fast bowler and a reliable lower-order batsman. Although originally from Barbados, Jordan chose to play for England despite being qualified to represent both England and the West Indies.
Jordan began his cricket career playing for Surrey Cricket Club in the county championship. At the age of 18 in 2007, he made a strong impression by taking 20 wickets in five county championship games for Surrey and was honored with the Most Promising Young Player Award for the county that year.
However, Jordan faced setbacks in his career, missing the entire 2010 County season due to a stress fracture and only picking up 11 wickets upon his return in 2011. After being released by Surrey in 2012, he returned to Barbados, where he showcased his skills and caught the attention of selectors.
In 2013, Jordan joined Sussex, which led to his true potential being realized and subsequently noticed by the England national team. He was eligible to play for England through his grandmother and was selected to represent the England Lions. Jordan made his One Day International (ODI) debut against Australia on September 16th, 2013, where he took three wickets and scored 15 runs but ended up on the losing side. His impressive performances earned him a place in the England squad for tours to Australia and the West Indies in 2014.
Although Jordan was selected for the 2015 World Cup, he only played twice before England’s disappointing exit from the tournament. Despite this setback, he managed to retain his place in the national team, particularly excelling in the T20I format. Jordan’s performances in the T20 series in the Caribbean just before the 2019 World Cup nearly earned him a spot in the squad, but his close friend Jofra Archer was ultimately chosen instead. Nevertheless, Jordan continued to make a name for himself in global franchise cricket.
Jordan’s Test debut came against Sri Lanka at Lord’s in June 2014, where he picked up three and two wickets in the first and second innings, respectively. Although his performances in ODIs initially earned him a place in the Test squad, he had a successful test series against India in late 2014, taking 10 wickets as England won the series 3-1. Jordan also represented England in the 2015 Test tour of the West Indies but could only manage six wickets across the three matches. To date, he has played eight Tests and taken 21 wickets.
