Chadwick Walton has made a name for himself in T20 circuit. A late bloomer who always had the potential to be a power hitter, Walton was part of the trophy-winning Jamaican Tallawahs squad in the Caribbean Premier League in 2013 and 2016 often partnering with C Gayle at the top. He topped the run charts in the 2017 CPL season scoring 458 runs from 12 matches at an average of 41.64 striking at 145.86 for Guyana Amazon Warriors. He has won a PSL title with Islamabad United and a GLT20 title with Vancouver Knights in 2018. Recently he played a match-winning 51(26) helping Maratha Arabians win the Abu Dhabi T10 league.
As a kid, Chadwick Walton liked missing school despite his mother being a teacher. Cricket was just another means to escape the classes, but it became the one which would go on to define him. Chadwick made his List A debut for Combined Campuses and Colleges in 2007 and his first-class debut a year later. In 2009, C Walton was called up to represent a second-string WI squad against Bangladesh as the senior players pulled out of the series due to a dispute with the board.
On 9th July 2009, he made his debut along with 8 other players from both sides – N Miller, K Roach, Mahmadullah, and R Hossain being the most prominent names. He could muster only 13 runs from 4 innings in that series but was sharp behind the stumps equalling Ridley Jacob’s record of 5 dismissals in an innings. With a couple of ducks in his ODI debut in the 2009 Champions Trophy and the return of the senior players, Walton was dropped from both the ODI and Test squads.
Since that dropping, he was called back to the squad and training camps many a time but wasn’t able to make it to the playing 11 with his decision to pursue a Master’s degree playing a part too. In 2014, he made his comeback against New Zealand after coming back into the squad as a replacement for M Samuels and made his T20I debut against New Zealand. He went on to play a handful of ODI and T20I games after that call-up but failed to establish himself as he couldn’t live up to his potential.

During a match between Jamaican Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL 2018, Kesrick Williams dismissed C Walton and pulled out his trademark notebook celebration. In the repeated encounter, Walton hit Williams for three fours and two sixes, repeating the same gesture after each boundary. In the end, it was all for fun as both have been friends since their University days.
Chadwick’s attempt at speaking the Punjabi language became famous all thanks to Yuvraj Singh’s viral posting of the video in his social media handles. Both were part of the title-winning Maratha Arabians squad in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
