Chandrapaul Hemraj is primarily an opening batsman who can also bowl a bit of decent left-arm spin. Hemraj first came in the limelight when he was selected to play for West Indies U19s. Very soon after that, he made his first-class debut for Guyana in the Regional Four day competition during the 2011-12 season just at the age of 19. He made a gritty 29 in his debut innings but could not capitalize in the following matches. As a result of that, he remained in and out of the Guyana team in the longer format.

It took many years for Chandrapaul Hemraj to make his List A debut. He finally began his limited-overs career with List A fixture against Kent during the Regional Super50 competition in 2017-18. Notably, he was out on a duck on debut but he finished the season with a reasonable record. Selectors decided to give him a go in the limited-overs part for the tour of India in 2018 after his involvement with West Indies A team on the tour to England.

In October 2018, Chandrapaul Hemraj played his debut ODI against India in Guwahati. He played a total of six ODIs in the next few months but failed to leave any impression against his name. He was dropped from the international setup soon after. He made a total of 82 runs from 6 ODI innings at an average of 13.66.

After playing the 2018 season with St Lucia Stars, Chandrapaul Hemraj returned to his home franchise of Guyana Amazon Warriors in 2019. Again this year, Guyana Amazon Warriors have retained his services for the upcoming CPL 2020. He is expected to open the batting for the Guyana franchise.
