“True Passion and hard work can take you places”, the story of Ali Khan is a testament to this quote. From playing tape ball cricket as a young kid in Pakistan to troubling the best batsman in the T20 leagues, Ali Khan has come a long way. Brought up in Pakistan, he took into fast bowling after being fascinated with the likes of Wasim, Waqar and Akhtar. He started to love fast bowling and is a product of Pakistan’s famed tape ball cricket. Any thought of pursuing cricket as a career took a backseat when his family moved to the US in 2010 when he was 19 years old. The idea of playing club cricket in the US excited him as he found a way to manage both his cellular company sales job and cricketing passion. Based in Dayton, Ohio (not known for its cricketing structure) Ali Khan had to travel nearly 400 miles to Washington D.C. or Chicago to play in some decent cricket matches. While it was getting difficult for him to sustain, a big break came in 2015 when he was selected for the ICC Americas team for the Nagico Super50 tournament organized by the WICB. His ability to bowl consistent yorkers grabbed the eyes Courtney Walsh and he was picked into the squad.

Guyana Amazon Warriors took note of his bowling in the Super50 tournament and signed him up for the 2016 CPL. Soon he was included in the USA squad as the main pacer, but he endured a setback with a hamstring tear during a training session. He was out of the game for 8 to 10 months. His CPL contract was also terminated as he gained a reputation of being prone to injuries. With doubts raised about his fitness, he participated in the 2018 US Open T20 tournament in Florida. Dwayne Bravo playing in the same team as that of Ali Khan was impressed with his bowling ability and recommended his name to the Winnipeg Hawks for the 2018 Global T20 Canada. He performed consistently for the Winnipeg Hawks and bagged 10 wickets from 8 games. One thing led to another and he was drafted into the TKR franchise for the 2018 CPL.

Playing under the tutelage of Bravo, Ali Khan inspired TKR with his bowling helping them to a tournament win as he grabbed 16 wickets from 12 matches with a whole package of pace, swing, yorkers and slower balls. He has been a regular for the US National team since then and even elevated them to ODI status with a great spell of 5/46 in the World Cricket League Division 2 match in 2019. He’s now one of the most sought out bowlers in the T20 franchise market and has played in established leagues like PSL, BPL, GLT20, T10 leagues. He has been retained by the Trinbago Knight Riders for the CPL 2020.
