MS Dhoni took over the Indian captaincy from Sourav Ganguly in 2007 and asserted his authority right away by leading India to the T20 World Cup win. Since then he never looked back and made Men in Blue dominate in all three formats of the game. The former Indian skipper made India No.1 in Test cricket and won every ICC trophy associated with white-ball cricket.

MS Dhoni cricket career

MS Dhoni has been a stalwart of Indian cricket. He has represented the nation in 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20Is. The former wicketkeeper-batsman has scored 4876 in the longest format of the game at an average of 38.90 to go with 6 hundreds and 33 fifties. In 50-overs format, former Indian skipper piled up 10773 runs at a staggering average of 50.58. He also registered 10 tons and 73 half-centuries. In T20Is, he smashed 1617 runs at an average and strike rate of 37.6 and 126.13 respectively.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has many times won the match for his side in crunch situations with his ability to finish off the games. Being among one of the few batsmen who have massed over 10,000 runs in ODI,

Dhoni is credited for taking Indian cricket to new heights. Not only in international cricket, but he also showed his mettle in IPL as well. Apart from scoring truckloads of runs in the league, Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to four IPL titles. He’s the main reason behind Men in Yellow being the second most successful franchise.
