Dipika Pallikal is a professional Indian squash player and she is also the first Indian to break into top 10 in the PSA Women’s rankings. Dipika Pallikal shot into fame after she won three WISPA tour titles in 2011 to achieve her career-best ranking of 13th. She earned a spot in top 10 in December 2012. Her mother, Susan Pallikal was an international cricketer who represented India. Pallikal played her first international tournament in London in her sixth grade and brought many accolades in the European Junior Squash Circuit. She also became the first female squash player to receive the Arjuna Award, India’s second highest sporting award in 2012. At 2014, Common Wealth Games, she won a gold medal for the country with Joshna Chinappa making it India’s first ever medal in squash.
She got married to Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik on 18 August 2015 according to Christian rules and on 20 August 2015 according to Hindu rituals. Interestingly, she hated cricketers because she believed cricket to be an over-hyped sport in India which made other sportspersons look dwarf in front of them. They met each other when they were receiving fitness sessions under the same coach, Basu and they eventually developed a friendship between each other
