Hardik Pandya Sam Curran fight: The Men in Blue have posted a challenging target of 337 for the visitors England. The likes of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul did provide a platform for the batsmen to follow. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya went out all guns blazing.
Specialist all rounder Hardik Pandya started off his innings in grand manner as he struck Sam Curran for a six over deep mid-wicket on the very first ball. A six by Rishabh Pant, followed by another six by Hardik Pandya frustrated Sam Curran to a large degree.
After finishing the over, and conceding over 20 runs, Sam Curran had a go at Hardik Pandya from the other end. As for Pandya, he didn’t shy away and rushed straight towards Curran to respond to the verbally.
The umpire Virender Sharma then had to intervene between the two players, as Pandya didn’t stop there and even pointed Sam Curran to head back to his fielding position.
Hardik Pandya scored a breezy knock of 36 from just 16 deliveries, with one boundary and four sixes to his name. Talking about the standout performer, it was wicket keeper batsman KL Rahul who continued from where he left in the last game and scored a solid knock of 108 from 114 deliveries.
In spite of the wait for the 71st century carrying on, Captain Virat Kohli scored a valuable 66 from 79 balls. Whereas, Rishabh Pant batted in his usual manner and took the England bowlers apart by scoring 77 from just 40 deliveries.
For England, fast bowlers Reece Topley and Tom Curran picked up two wickets apiece. The pressure will be on the visitors to chase down a challenging target in order to stay alive in the three-match ODI series.
