Ibrahim Zadran has been one of the shining lights in Afghanistan cricket ever since he made his debut for the national side in 2019. As a batting all-rounder, Zadran has made an instant impact for the national side as he has produced some impressive numbers during his spell.

Initially staring at the U-19 level, Zadran’s selection was just a matter of time before he made his debut for the senior side. In a rear occasion in Afghanistan cricket history Zadran made his senior debut in Test format and not in the limited-overs format back in 2019.

Career

Like every other cricketer in his homeland, Zadran also started his career at U-19 level before he made his switch to the senior team. Interestingly he is one of the rear players to have made two U-19 World Cups. He participated in the 2018 U-19 World Cup held New Zealand and was the leading run-scorer for the team.

In the 2018 edition he was the highest scorer for the team and helped them get out of the group. Zadran would creep in to score 186 runs in the tournament and saw his team finished joint-third in the tournament. His performance helped his team win against the likes of New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

He would later represent his nation at the 2020 U-19 World Cup as well in South Africa. This time too he was the leading run-scorer for his team, as Zadran scored 240 runs from five matches. This would turn out to be the foundation stone for him in his senior international career.

In September 2019, Zadran would become the 15th different player to play a Test match for the national side as made his debut against Bangladesh. In a historic result for the national side, Afghanistan would beat Bangladesh as Zadran scored 87-run knock to steer his team to an impressive 224-runs win.

Later that year in November, in a span of three days, Zadran made his ODI and T20I debut for the national side against West Indies. In just his fourth ODI match for the national side, Zadran would score his maiden ton against Zimbabwe in June 2022. He scored an unbeaten 121 off 141 deliveries at the Harare Sports Club.
