Though Bumrah was always a talented fast bowler, there were some doubts about whether he would be successful with this action in the international arena. But he kept on improving as he played more matches. He made his first-class debut for Gujarat in 2013 and returned match figures 7-89. But it was the shorter format in which Bumrah was absolutely lethal. He made his IPL debut in the year 2013 against RCB and returned figures of 3-32. He marked his arrival with the wicket of Virat Kohli in his first over of the IPL.
Bumrah’s dreams came true when he made international debut on January 23, 2016 against Australia. He soon became a reliable option for India in the death overs with his ability to bowl pinpoint Yorkers and a well deceived slower ball. Bumrah made his Test debut against South Africa in Cape Town in 2018. He played a massive role in India’s historic 2-1 series win in Australia.
