Nita Ambani is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer. Her earlier ambition was to become a teacher and after she got married to Mukesh Ambani, she built a rural school near the Patalganga Plant to harness her passion for teaching. Later she set up another school at Jamnagar and then eventually Dhirubhai Ambani International School in South Mumbai.
Dhirubhai Ambani first saw her when she was performing a classical dance, he then called her to make a proposal for his son. When he called her, she couldn’t believe that it was Dhirubhai Ambani and put the call off. He again called her for the second time and said: “I am Dhirubhai Ambani” for which she replied, “Yeah so, I am Elizabeth Taylor.”
Nita Ambani became the first Indian woman to be elected as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
