Qais Ahmad is a right-arm leg spinner from Afghanistan. He was born on 15 August 2000 and made his international debut for Afghanistan in September 2019. Qais has represented Afghanistan in all formats in his short career so far. He has also played across the globe in various franchise leagues.
Qais Ahmad has represented Afghanistan in 1 Test, where he scored 23 runs and picked up a wicket. He has played just one ODI as well, where he grabbed three wickets. In the two T20Is that he has played so far, he has scored eight runs and picked four wickets.
However, he has played 12 first class games, scoring 226. He has also picked up 68 wickets at an average of 20.51 and a strike-rate of 36.2. From 16 List A games, Qais has 132 runs. He has claimed 24 wickets averaging 29.16 at a strike-rate of 36.6.
Qais Ahmad has played for several franchises in T20 cricket all over the world. Looking at his T20 numbers, he has featured in 103 matches so far. He has picked up 115 wickets at an average of 21.94 and a strike-rate of 18.4, also having scored 466 runs striking at 124.26.
The young leg-spinner from Afghanistan made his first-class debut in 2018. His List-A debut followed in the same year in July. In December 2017, Qais was a part of the Afghanistan U-19 World Cup squad and was named in the Afghanistan U-23 team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
Qais made his Test debut on 5 September 2019 against Bangladesh. The very next year in 2020, he made his T20I debut on 10 March against Ireland. His ODI debut came on 25 January 2022 against the Netherlands a couple of years later.
He has also represented several franchises in various T20 leagues. Qais has been a part of teams such as Colombo Kings, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Hobart Hurricanes, Jamaica Tallawahs, Kent, Melbourne Stars, Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators, St Lucia Stars and Welsh Fire (Men).
