MS Dhoni, India’s most successful captain is also a mentor for most members of the Indian cricket team. Most of the modern-day cricketers made their debut under him. One thing that separates Dhoni from most captains of his generation is his ability to soak pressure and get the best out of the available resources. He is one of the calmest players to have ever graced the cricket field. India’s limited-overs vice-captain and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, who is also known for his leadership skills, hailed Dhoni as a role model who has injected confidence into youngsters.

MS Dhoni, most decorated Indian Captain

It was under MS Dhoni’s captaincy that the Indian cricket team had their best moments, and Rohit Sharma has been a part of the majority of his plans which brought India to success.

Just like many Indian cricket fans, Rohit also feels that Dhoni is the best captain India ever had. He praised Dhoni for keeping his calm even during the tense moments of a match and his ability to guide the young players in the team.

In a talk show, Rohit claimed that Dhoni is one of the most decorated captains and how his tenure of 9 years as a captain has shaped the team to bring success, even in his absence.

Whole India knows MS Dhoni is the one who has been like that. It (remaining calm) has helped him to make such good decisions on the field

He is now the most successful Indian captain of all time, having won all the three ICC trophies and IPL titles as well. He is the best captain India has seen,”

Obviously there is a reason behind it and that reason is him being calm and composed under pressure situation. I have seen him handle a lot of young bowlers when they get under pressure. He just goes around and puts his arm around their neck and talks to them. When a younger member is treated like that by a senior member of the team, you obviously feel confident.

Dhoni is the only skipper to have won all the ICC events. He led India to World Cup glory in 2011 followed by the Champions Trophy title in 2013. Apart from this, he was the captain of the young Indian team that won the inaugural ICC TWO world cup held in South Africa. Dhoni even made India dominate in the test format in 2009.

Dhoni made Rohit open the innings for India

Rohit’s rise in the Indian team can also be credited to Dhoni. Rohit was seen as a special talent by cricket pundits but he somehow didn’t fit into Indian team’s middle order. It was then that Dhoni spotted an ability in him to open for India, which made him an undisputed opener for India from a talented par middle-order batsman.

Most successful IPL captains

Dhoni has a stunning record as captain in IPL too. He has led Chennai Super Kings to an impressive three titles as well as two titles in the Champions League T20.

Whereas Rohit has led his CSK’s rival team Mumbai Indians to four title wins. No surprises then that Rohit Sharma rates his India teammate and IPL rival so highly.
