    Vivrant Sharma career

Vivrant Sharma started playing cricket at the tender age of 12 by following in his elder brother’s footsteps. His elder brother, Vikrant Sharma, used to play club cricket in Jammu and Kashmir. However, during his time, cricket in J&K was not that prominent. Still, the younger one, Vivrant, was determined and fell in love with the sport.

Vivrant Shamra started as a right-handed batter. However, he emulated his brother a lot and switched to a left-hander. Vivrant made his debut for J&K in 2021 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Till now, the youngster had played only 9 T20s in which he scored 191 runs and clipped 6 wickets in total. He registered his career-best figures 4/13.

However, Vivrant Sharma attracted the IPL scouts in the Vijay Hazare match against Uttar Pradesh. Jammu and Kashmir needed that win to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament for the very first time. However, they struggled. Vivrant opened the innings and destroyed the opposition’s bowlers. He registered his maiden career century and scored 154 off 124 deliveries. During the fiery innings, the 23-year-old hit 18 fours and 6 sixes in total. However, scoring those match-winning runs was not easy for him. The youngster suffered cramps and went off the field while being on 90. But, he returned to the field after his partner’s wicket and made sure his team crosses the finish line.

Vivrant Shamra’s match-winning innings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy attracted IPL franchise scouts. In the IPL 2023 mini-auction, Vivrant received a contract worth INR 2.6 Cr from Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR fought hard for the southpaw as well, but he was eventually sold to SRH. SRH made a big investment in a youngster with very little T20 experience. Moreover, Vivrant will join his J&K mates, Umran Malik and Abdul Samad, in the SRH camp for IPL 2023.
