Shakib feels he is “20-30%” fit
Ahead of the start of Asia Cup on September 15, the injuries to key players have left Bangladesh team management worried. Reportedly, Shakib Al Hasan has admitted that he is not fully fit for the upcoming Asia Cup and raised questions over top players having to play with lower levels of fitness.
This has put Bangladesh Cricket Board in an uncomfortable position.
Commenting over Shakib situation, BCB director Jalal Yunus said Shakib did not inform them regarding his fitness and instead went to the media saying he is only “20-30% fit” for the tournament.
Shakib suffered the injury on his left hand’s little finger in January. It ruled him out of home Tests and T20Is against Sri Lanka and the Pakistan Super League. The all-rounder was supposed to undergo a finger surgery on return from the West Indies tour in the first week of August but was named in the Asia Cup squad.

Tamim suffers a finger injury during practice session
The Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal is another whose participation in the upcoming Asia Cup is in doubt. The leading run-getter for Bangladesh, Tamim has suffered damage on his finger during fielding practice. He could miss Bangladesh’s opening game of the tournament.
According to BCB’s chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu, “Tamim has hurt his finger. So we have to keep Mominul Haque as the possible replacement if need be. He (Mominul) could play in case of necessity.”
Bangladesh squad for Asia Cup was announced on August 30
Mashrafe Mortaza (c), Shakib Al Hasan (vc), Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Nazmul Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mohammad Mithun, Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Ariful Haque, Nazmul Islam, Abu Hider, Rubel Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman.
