The 33rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 saw two heavyweights of the league Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) clashing each other at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Both the teams are currently struggling in the tournament and are placed 9th and 10th on the points table. However there was a little light at the end of tunnel for the Ravindra Jadeja-led side cliched the nail-bitter by 3 wickets.

Asked to bat first, it got as worse as it could for Mumbai Indians as they lost both the openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the very first over for 0 runs. Dewald Brevis fell too early as MI were left tottering at 23/3. Suryakumar Yadav (32), Hrithik Shokeen (25) played a great supportive role to Tilak Varma, who scored unbeaten 51 runs, to take MI to the fighting total of 155 runs. Mukesh Choudhary was the pick of the bowlers for CSK as he returned with the figures of 3/19.

Defending the target, MI kept the spirits high and removed Ruturaj Gaikwad on the very first delivery of the innings and followed it with the wicket of Mitchell Santner (11) in the third over. The five-time champions kept ticking the right boxes and took wickets at regular intervals to leave CSK tottering at 106/6. MS Dhoni and Dwaine Pretorius (22) kept their side in hut. With 17 runs needed off the last over, Jaydev Unadkat removed the Proteas batsman on the first ball but the keeper-batsman smashed six and four on the third and fourth ball to put pressure back on MI. In the end, CSK needed 4 runs on the last ball Dhoni turned the clock back and smashed four to win the match for his side.
Man of the match today IPL
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Mukesh Choudhary won the Man of the Match award in today’s encounter against Mumbai Indians at DY Patil Stadium. The left-arm pacer provided a great start to his team and removed Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the first over of the match. If this was not enough, he also removed young Dewald Brevis to return with an exceptional figures of 3/19.
