Ravindra Jadeja IND vs WI: India is all set to take on hosts West Indies in a three-match ODI series and the first game is scheduled to take place on 22 July, 2022 at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Team India is very much likely to start as the overwhelming favourites especially after their stunning 2-1 ODI series victory over England recently. Even with a rather inexperienced white-ball team, India will have the upper hand on West Indies tour of India 2022 as the hosts have not had the best of forms in the 50-overs format of the game.
The big update is that India’s vice captain and premier all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is very much doubtful for the entire three-match ODI series against West Indies. It has been understood that Jadeja has sustained a niggle on his knee and currently the medical advice is being sought to determine the seriousness of his injury. Incidentally, after having played all the three ODIs in England recently, the visitors might not want to risk their premier spin bowling all-rounder who is struggling with a left knee injury.
However, it will be really interesting to see who will be named the new vice captain of the Indian ODI team in the absence of Ravindra Jadeja against West Indies. One of the trio of Yuzvendra Chahal, Shardul Thakur or Shreyas Iyer will be the frontrunners for the vice captaincy role.
In the absence of Ravindra Jadeja, left-arm spinner Axar Patel is most likely to be included in the India playing 11 for the first ODI against West Indies on Friday as the like-for-like replacement. There will be a toss up between Avesh Khan, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh for the third pacer’s slot.
