A washed out game in the second ODI hasn’t helped both the teams as Ireland still search their first win in this tour. For Afghanistan, the third ODI offers a chance to continue their domination while Ireland look forward to up the ante.
The Afghanistan bowlers have been on money so far and they once again will be the key in the AFG vs IRE 3rd ODI. On the other hand, Ireland have to find a way to tackle the spin threat and at the same time have to create more pressure with their bowling.
In this third ODI, these three players will play a massive role.
Kevin O’Brien has some fond memories of playing in India as this is the country where he slammed a 50-ball hundred to stun England in 2011. But so far in this tour, he has looked a pale shadow of his tremendous batting potential and he will be itching to up the ante.
O’brien can tear apart any bowling attack on his day and hence is a massive threat for Afghanistan. If the Ireland batsman gets set, Ireland may put up a respectable total on the board.
In the third ODI too, Ireland will once again face a stiff challenge from Mujeeb Ur Rahman. The off-spinner troubled Ireland’s top order in the first ODI and he looks in good form to repeat his heroics.
His accuracy and ability to set up the batsmen makes him a huge weapon especially against a batting attack which doesn’t have much experience of facing quality spin.
The leg-spinner will continue to be the number one threat for the visitors in this tour. Rashid’s incredible skills and his variations can push Ireland into trouble in the middle overs and the fact that he is generally very economical will be another challenge for Ireland.
