Asia Cup: Bangladesh lose the trophy but win hearts on Twitter
After more than six hours and 100 overs of cricket in the Asia Cup, Bangladesh yet again stared at frustration and agony as they lost to India by three wickets. The Bangla tigers gave their all to defend a modest total of 222 runs but against a mighty strong Indian batting line up, the score wasn’t enough.
The Bangla tigers failed to win the trophy but they did wons several hearts as fans expressed their appreciation for the team on Twitter.
Bangladesh did wonderfully well to take it as deep as they did. And the captain deserves a big part of the credit. Bangladesh looked poor midway into the tournament so this is a fine comeback

Bangladesh show individual flashes of brilliance
However, the defeat doesn’t hide the terrific fight shown by the Bangladesh players which even put India under immense pressure.
Liton Das was absolutely sensational with the bat and his maiden century caught India by surprise. He came down the track against Jasprit Bumrah which most batsmen find too difficult a dare to accept and swept the spinners in surprising ease. The unfortunate collapse of the middle order enabled India to come back in the game otherwise Das had literally batted India out of the game.

Rubel Hossain bowled one of the best bowling spells in a final as he brought his team back in the contest. He delivered 45 dot balls in his ten overs which choked India in the middle overs and it also brought the downfall of Rohit Sharma who looked set for a big one.
The captaincy of Mashrafe Mortaza impressed everyone. He defended 223 as if defending a Mount Everest of runs and was brutally aggressive with his field placements and bowling changes. At times he kept six fielders inside the ring and challenged India’s batsmen to take the risk.
And the fact that the team achieved all this without having their two key players, Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan gives it a silver lining.
A tournament to remember for Bangladesh
It all started in the match against Sri Lanka where Bangladesh won a one-sided match to reflect their prowess. Tamim Iqbal coming to bat with an injured finger was sensational to watch and it kind of set the tone for the team.
A defeat against Afghanistan made it difficult for Bangladesh but they won the virtual semi-final against Pakistan to make it to the finals of Asia Cup for the third time.
Here are some tweets that praise the Bangla Tigers.
So near yet so far from Bangladesh. Congratulations to Team India on winning the #AsiaCup2018 . Hats off to Bangladesh for such a spirited fight despite missing key players. India have a lot of areas to work upon despite winning this & I am hopeful, they will get better. #IndvBan

Hong Kong made them worried, Afghanistan tied with them, Bangladesh made them work hard in the final. India was comfortable only against Pakistan.

Well done India, won a tough match, despite continuing middle order batting mess. This team will be shown by better teams, as Eng did. And congrats Bangladesh. You are the new rising Asian powerhouse. #AsiaCup18
