With series scoreline yet to be moved, the focus now shifts towards the second Test which is set to take place at Lord’s on 12th August.

Moeen Ali likely to be recalled to England’s squad for the second Test against India

With just two days remaining for the start of the second Test, England is likely to recall all-rounder Moeen Ali to their Test squad as per the reports published by The Guardian.

Speaking of Moeen Ali, England’s head coach Chris Silverwood said that the all-rounder is under consideration as he’s in fine form in the ongoing Hundred tournament

“Moeen is certainly under consideration, he always has been. We know he is a fine cricketer and is showing fine form in the Hundred. I appreciate it’s a different format [but] it’s something that has to be in our mind,” Chris Silverwood said.

Top-order batting over the past few months has been one of the major problems for the England cricket team in the longest format of the game. The trio of Dom Sibley, Rory Burns and Zack Crawley failed to make an impact in the first Test against India at Trent Bridge.

In the latest development, it is learned that Haseeb Hameed is likely to play a second Test match to bring stability to the top three. The 24-year-old featured for the County Select XI against India in the Warm-Up fixture and smashed a brilliant century.

Talking about Haseeb Hameed, Chris Silverwood said that the right-handed batsman is a very strong case. who has put his best foot forward and has shown a lot of class as well. He added that the 24-year-old has grabbed every opportunity that has come his way.

“I’m confident he’s as ready as he could be. He is making a very strong case. He did put his best foot forward in Durham when he scored that hundred. What he did an early season in the Championship shows there’s a lot of class there. He’s done everything he possibly can to be ready and take every opportunity,” Silverwood said
